Seasonal Grounds Person

Summer Groundskeeper Westtown School is seeking general Groundskeepers for temporary seasonal work, beginning immediately through mid-to-late August. Groundskeepers are responsible for maintaining the campus grounds and recreational areas. The regular hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Westtown School is a Quaker independent pre-K to 12, college-preparatory day and boarding school located in suburban West Chester, PA, approximately 30 miles from Philadelphia. Situated on a beautiful 600-acre campus, Westtown offers state-of-the-art facilities where our committed faculty and staff inspire and prepare our students to be stewards and leaders of a better world. Essential Responsibilities • Mow grass, prune and trim shrubs and trees, and apply mulch; • Operate a tractor, loader, and other facility vehicles; • Weed flower beds and attend to landscaped areas; • Plant trees/shrubs and annuals, as directed; • Assist in maintaining athletic fields and recreational play areas, including layout, lining, mowing, seeding, fertilizing, etc.; • Assist with the removal and disposal of trash and debris; • Maintain campus driveways and parking lots; • Provide support and manpower to other campus departments as necessary; • Maintain knowledge of school property and staff as necessary to perform assigned duties; • Report unsafe conditions or suspicious activity as necessary; • Remain committed to safe work practices and energy conservation at all times; • Participate in departmental meetings/training as necessary; • Maintain professional and appropriate relations with all students and parents at all times; • Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: • Prior experience in the care and maintenance of similar facilities is preferred • Ability to work within the overall organization of the Facilities department and work with skilled and unskilled personnel • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions • Must have a valid Driver's License Physical Requirements: • Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 50 lbs. regularly. Lift, carry or otherwise move up to 100lbs. occasionally with assistance. • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods of time. • Must be able to climb ladders. • Must be able to push and/or pull heavy loads.
