In this role, you will help create and upgrade SIL environments across multiple product lines, focusing on system-level integration and project engineering. The position combines hands-on technical work with leadership and mentoring responsibilities, operating under general supervision with minimal review, and requires independent judgment on significant matters.\n\nThe ideal candidate will promote teamwork, continuous improvement, and interdepartmental collaboration to ensure high performance and reliability in a regulated aerospace environment. You will work with other engineering team members to resolve complex issues and provide feedback on technical assessments. Additional responsibilities include consulting on test standards and procedures, and contributing to the development of systems quality testing, operating methods, and processes.\n\nDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:\nActively contribute to system-level design, integration, and testing for unmanned aircraft system development environments, focusing on the coordination of sub-systems, avionics, sensors, payloads, ground control stations, support equipment, supporting facilities, and overall system functionality used for product development/verification/validation.\nLead and mentor a team of engineers, setting high technical and ethical standards, sharing best practices, and supporting professional development.\nPlan and schedule your engineering activities to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met. Use project management tools such as Jira to track/monitor your and your team’s progress and adjust resources.\nFoster strong collaboration with mechanical engineering, software engineering, project engineering, system development and test, manufacturing, and program management teams to resolve technical challenges and ensure alignment of objectives and milestones.\nGuide and support direct reports in becoming effective points of contact for cross-functional technical issues, helping them build skills in communication and collaborative problem-solving with other teams.\nParticipate in, and help coordinate, design reviews, technical assessments, and system integration efforts, ensuring solutions are robust and meet functional engineering and program requirements.\nSupport the development and management of project funding, budgets, and resource allocation. Maintain accountability for labor, asset utilization, and financial performance of the team’s work.\nContribute to SIL related business planning and proposal estimates to support our ongoing and future projects.\nParticipate in documentation of engineering processes, findings, and solutions. Ensure technical data is accurate, complete, and compliant with company and regulatory standards.\nPromote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, ensuring all work adheres to relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.\nParticipate in recruiting, onboarding, and developing engineering talent to strengthen the team’s capabilities and capacities.\nPartner with other SIL team supervisors as an acting supervisor for lab technicians and system test analysts during times when all other supervisors are unavailable, providing technical guidance, work direction, and operational oversight to ensure continuity of SIL operations and testing activities.\nOther duties as assigned or required.\nWe recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.\n\nJob Qualifications\nTypically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD.
