OVERVIEW: Reporting to Materials Processing Manager Group, Chemical Manufacturing Laboratory Technician will be responsible for day-to-day tasks associated with development and manufacturing of LAL IOL components, primarily responsible for processing of production materials and in-process materials testing. The candidate will also support other formulation chemistry laboratory activities as pertain to materials testing and general laboratory organization requirements. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operation and maintenance (assembly, disassembly, cleaning) of wiped film evaporator Materials purification using chromatography and testing using UV-vis, FTIR, GPC, refractometer and viscometer Data collection and analysis Support maintenance of chemicals and consumables inventory Requirements: REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Good working knowledge and understanding of basic materials characterization techniques is required (UV-Vis, FTIR, GPC, RI) Strong foundation in chemistry and basic math Reliable, accountable, detail oriented and self-starter Strong communication skills SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING: Prior experience working in a wet chemistry lab Prior experience with a wiped film evaporator is desired but not necessary Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or equivalent is required Must be US citizen or a permanent resident Training to be completed per the training plan for this position as maintained in the document control system The training requirements on TRN-10007 Insider Trading Policy, TRN-10008 Global CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Smartsheets
