With support from our staff, Board, and broader Team BGCP community, we strive to make our community a great place for all kids to grow up.Position OverviewThe Director of Sports Leagues provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for BGCP’s Sports League portfolio across clubhouses, partner schools, and districts. This role sets the long-term strategy for Sports Leagues, ensuring program quality, consistency, and scalability while aligning programming with BGCP’s organizational goals, youth development framework, and equity commitments.In this role, you will lead and develop Sports League leadership and staff, oversee multi-site operations, and manage budgets while serving as a key cross-functional partner. The position balances high-level strategy with accountability for outcomes, people leadership, and sustainable growth across regions, and reports to the Vice President, Redwood City Clubhouse.Role & ResponsibilitiesProgram Strategy & Portfolio LeadershipSet the vision, long-term strategy, and annual priorities for BGCP Sports Leagues serving K–12 youthProvide oversight for all Sports League programming, including in-house clubhouse leagues, school-year enrichment, and Coach Em Up programmingEnsure consistency, quality, and alignment of Sports League programming across regions and sitesLead the evolution and implementation of the Sports League framework, playbooks, and standards of practiceOrganizational Leadership & CollaborationPartner with Regional Directors, site leadership, and program leaders to align Sports Leagues with enrollment needs, site capacity, and youth experience goalsCollaborate cross-functionally with Talent Acquisition, People, Finance, Operations, and Development to support staffing, budgeting, compliance, and growthRepresent Sports Leagues in senior leadership discussions and contribute to broader programmatic and organizational planningPeople Leadership & Talent DevelopmentLead, coach, and develop Sports League leadership, managers, coordinators, and seasonal staffSet clear performance expectations, oversee goal setting, and support ongoing professional developmentPartner with People and Talent Acquisition teams on workforce planning, hiring strategies, onboarding, and performance managementFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementPartnerships & External EngagementBuild and maintain strong, strategic relationships with school partners, districts, community organizations, coaches, and vendorsParticipate in school partner meetings to share Sports League outcomes, program impact, and areas of growthIdentify opportunities to expand partnerships that strengthen program reach, quality, and sustainabilityData, Evaluation & Continuous ImprovementUse data, outcomes, and feedback to assess program quality, participation, retention, and youth engagementEstablish and monitor key performance indicators for Sports Leagues across regionsLead continuous improvement efforts based on findings and organizational prioritiesBudget & Resource ManagementOwn the Sports League budget, ensuring responsible financial stewardship and alignment with program goalsOversee staffing models, scheduling structures, and resource allocation across sites and seasonsMonitor expenses, forecasting, and sustainability in partnership with FinancePerform additional relevant duties as assigned to support evolving organizational needs.QualificationsBachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in Sports Management, Education, Youth Development, or a related field8+ years of progressive leadership experience in youth programming, sports leagues, or nonprofit program managementDemonstrated experience leading multi-site programs and managing managers or senior staffStrong strategic planning, operational leadership, and organizational skillsIn-depth knowledge of youth sports development, coaching models, and program quality standardsExperience managing budgets and partnering across departmentsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDemonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and BGCP’s mission and valuesAbility to work evenings and weekends as needed to support league operationsPhysical Requirements And Work EnvironmentThe usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; and some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, and/or crawling. The role also requires significant fine finger dexterity and near vision acuity. The position may occasionally involve lifting or carrying objects up to 25 pounds. Generally, the job requires approximately 20% sitting and 80% walking or standing. The work environment noise level is typically moderate but may occasionally be louder.
