The candidate will provide senior-level systems engineering leadership supporting the investigation, development, integration, testing, and operational transition of advanced land data assimilation and hydrological modeling capabilities within the Land Information System (LIS).\nRequired Qualifications\nMaster's degree in computer science, engineering, systems engineering, earth science or related field and 10 years’ experience in software engineering or development. Or, the equivalent combination of education and experience.\nExperience integrating, testing, and deploying complex modeling or data assimilation systems in operational environments\nExperience with software configuration management, software baselines, regression testing, and Git/GitLab workflows\nDemonstrated experience leading system integration, verification, validation (IV&V), and operational readiness activities\nAbility to provide continuity-of-operations (COOP) support, including reach-back technical assistance\nKnowledge of advanced data assimilation and AI/ML-enabled analytics applied to Earth system or environmental data\nDesired Qualifications\nExperience with Land Information System (LIS) or similar Earth system modeling and data assimilation frameworks\nFamiliarity with land surface models (LSMs) and hydrological models (e.g., HyMAP, RAPID) from a systems integration perspective\n\nPhysical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear and occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
