Senior Electrical Engineer – HMI Hardware

Working at a startup gives you the chance to manifest your creativity and make a bigdifference in the final product.As an Electrical Engineer on our Infotainment and Connectivity Hardware team, you will own thedevelopment of some of the key human-machine interfaces (HMI) our riders use to interact with ourrobot/vehicle. This includes hardware for user authentication, ingress access, communication, andcabin/occupant monitoring. In this highly cross-functional role, you will need to develop requirements,solve challenging design problems, create and test prototypes, and coordinate projects to meet criticalcompany milestones.Responsibilities You are expected to be hands-on, investigating issues whenever and wherever they occur to resolveproblems, drive design updates, and enable Zoox to scale. You will specify electrical component and system requirements and lead engineering discussions anddevelopment with suppliers including drawing reviews, requirement validation, and change requestdocumentation. You will coordinate supplier tooling and production to meet critical vehicle milestones. You will collaborate with mechanical, systems, firmware, and software engineering teams as well assystem operators to iterate on existing designs and develop future solutions. You will conduct root cause analysis during the development, validation, build, and deployment phasesfor issue resolution including detailed log reviews and component investigations. You will support the development and execution of system and component-level validation test plans. You will work with manufacturing and quality engineers to mature components and support vehiclebuild, bring-up, and test activities.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent) 5-10 years of experience in electrical component/system design and troubleshooting Experience taking a part or assembly from concept through production, working with external suppliers,and managing deliverables for multiple projects Automotive (CAN bus, automotive Ethernet, A2B, and other automotive networks), aerospace, or safetycritical industry experience Experience with on-board digital serial interfaces such as SPI, UART, I2C, and I2S Experience with electrical and EMI/C testingBonus Qualifications Knowledge of automotive functional safety (ISO26262) standards Firmware / Software experience (managing/developing/testing) including functional knowledge ofpython, c/c++, and other scripting languages.
