About the Opportunity:The Manager, Software Engineering - Storage Platform leads the team responsible for the core database infrastructure supporting the organization''s platform. This role is critical for maintaining the reliability and performance of foundational data systems, shaping infrastructure strategy, and integrating AI to enhance database operations. The position ensures the platform''s data tier supports the rapid scaling and diverse needs of product engineering teams.3. Responsibilities:Lead and develop engineers managing core database systems including sharded Postgres clusters, schema management, and provisioning toolsEnsure reliability and operational excellence of the data tier through incident management and resilience investmentsDefine technical direction and roadmap balancing reliability with platform capabilitiesCollaborate with product and engineering leadership to prioritize work across competing demandsRecruit, retain, and grow infrastructure engineering talent and foster a strong team cultureDrive execution through planning, progress reviews, and transparent communicationCoordinate with other engineering managers on shared standards and cross-team initiativesPromote AI-assisted tooling to improve developer experience in database operations4. Requirements:Minimum 4 years managing infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering teamsStrong technical background in distributed systems, stateful infrastructure, or data-intensive backend systemsAbility to quickly learn new technical domains and apply engineering fundamentalsExperience improving on-call culture, incident response, and reliability for production systemsProven track record of coaching and developing engineers and managing team dynamicsExperience leading distributed teams across multiple time zonesPreferred qualifications:Experience managing multiple teams or managersExperience defining technical vision across multiple streamsHands-on operation of relational databases at scale, including sharding and migrationFamiliarity with AI/LLM-assisted developer toolingBackground in related infrastructure areas like caching, streaming, or observabilityExperience in a high-growth product environment requiring rapid infrastructure evolution5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:Annual base salary range: 258,000—376,000 USD, adjusted for work locationEquity and competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision insurance, retirement contribution, parental leave, mental health support, PTO, and various stipends and bonuses6.
