Travel RN - Labor & Delivery

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience, active ME or compact RN license, and prior travel experience at a comparable facility.Job Details• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week,• Inpatient Labor & Delivery unit within a high-volume hospital serving as one of only two NICUs in Maine, with approximately 1,800 deliveries per year,• Unit includes 7 labor rooms, 2 OBED triage rooms, 2 triage rooms within L&D, 2 OR suites, and a 25-bed Postpartum/Antepartum/GYN/Mother-Baby area,• Level III NICU on site; facility covers a large geographic referral area for high-acuity OB cases,• Patient population includes PIH, GDM, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, multiples, fetal loss, substance use, and cervical ripening cases,• Approximately 4 scheduled events (C-sections, versions, etc.) performed daily,• Patient ratios: cervical ripening and laboring patients 1:1-3, active labor 1:1, couplet/postpartum/antepartum 3 M/B couplets or 3 antepartum/NICU moms,• May float to Mother-Baby unit for antepartum, postpartum, or occasional Mother-Baby coverage (Newborn Nursery RN handles 24-hour labs),• Weekend rotation required: at least 4 of every 8 weekend shifts per schedule, which may be consecutive,• No on-call requirement, though picking up call shifts is optional,• Holiday coverage required on a rotation basis,• EMR: Cerner with Fetal Link; IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Pyxis; fetal monitoring: Fetal Link (remote at bedside and nurses station),Job Requirements• Active ME or compact RN license required,• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM), and MOAB,• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required,• Must have completed at least one prior travel assignment at a facility of comparable size and acuity - first-time travelers will not be considered,• Proficiency in Pitocin titration, fetal scalp electrodes, cervical exams, epidural placement assistance, insulin drip and magnesium drip management, shoulder dystocia management, circulating C-sections and/or newborn reception in the OR, neonatal resuscitation, IUPC placement assistance and monitoring, and lactation support,• Cerner EMR experience strongly preferred,• Two professional references within the past year required, with at least one from a supervisor, manager, or director (charge nurse acceptable; peer references not accepted),• Full SSN, copies of all certifications, and a valid driver's license required for consideration,• Flu vaccination required for employment eligibility,• Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of the facility to be eligible,• No prior permanent employment at any Northern Light Health hospital,Additional Information• Responsibilities include managing laboring patients through all stages of labor, circulating in the OR for C-sections, neonatal resuscitation, and providing newborn care including lactation support and safe skin-to-skin protocol when mother remains on the unit,• When a mother requires continuous surveillance (e.g., Mag x 24 hours), the L&D RN is responsible for documenting feeds, vitals, and newborn assessments; testing is completed by Mother-Baby staff,• Unit support includes 24/7 charge nurse, CST, anesthesia, house supervisor, respiratory therapy, OB provider on-call, family medicine residents with attending backup, and certified midwife; unit secretary and bed flow facilitator available on day shift only,• Orientation consists of approximately 3 days: one day with HR/preceptor, one day of OR/PACU training, and one day with a preceptor on the contracted shift,• Navy scrubs are required and provided on site via scrub machine (6 credits allotted); street clothes are worn to and from the facility,• Free parking available on site,• Candidates with charge nurse (CRN) experience should note this background when applying,• All RTO requests must be submitted for manager approval,• Interviews conducted via Simpli.fi platform
