SQL Database Administrator
Job Title: SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA)Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid) - Client prefers only local to Ohio resident candidates Job Type: Long-term ContractDirect client: Job OverviewOur direct client IT organization is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage enterprise database environments. The ideal candidate will be a strong technical leader with deep expertise in SQL Server, cloud platforms, and database performance optimization, working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Key ResponsibilitiesManage and support Microsoft SQL Server environments (on-prem & VM-based)Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategiesPlan and execute database installations, upgrades, migrations, and maintenanceConfigure SQL services including security, clustering, replication, and log shippingProvide Tier III production support and resolve complex database issuesCollaborate with network, IIS, storage, and development teamsSupport DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, Nginx, etc.)Design and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutionsParticipate in capacity planning and scalability improvementsDevelop technical documentation, project plans, and best practicesLead database-related meetings and mentor junior team membersEnsure compliance with security and risk management standards Required Skills & Experience6+ years of SQL Server DBA experienceStrong experience managing SQL databases (on-prem & cloud)Experience in multi-datacenter / distributed environmentsHands-on experience with:SQL Server configuration & administrationPerformance tuning & optimizationBackup, recovery, and disaster recoveryExperience with DevOps tools (Ansible, Jenkins, Bitbucket, Maven, Nginx, etc.)Experience working with Azure Cloud and Oracle databasesStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills Preferred QualificationsExperience with cluster setup and high availability configurationsKnowledge of Unix, Linux, and AIX environmentsExperience in database architecture planning and automationAbility to lead initiatives and drive database innovation Additional RequirementsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentStrong leadership and stakeholder communication skillsExperience working with cross-agency database teamsBackground check may be requiredNoteCandidates must demonstrate strong hands-on expertise in SQL Server environments, performance tuning, and database architecture during the interview process.
