This role oversees accounting, payroll, purchasing, inventory, fleet administration, technology systems, risk management, and financial reporting while providing strategic support to ownership and department leaders.\r\nThe ideal candidate is a highly organized leader who enjoys both financial stewardship and operational excellence. This person will help drive profitability, improve processes, support department managers, and ensure the company has accurate information to make sound business decisions.\r\nResponsibilities\r\nFinancial Management & Reporting\r\nLead all accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Banking, and General Ledger.\r\nPrepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.\r\nManage month-end and year-end close processes.\r\nDevelop annual budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.\r\nMonitor company financial performance and provide actionable recommendations.\r\nAnalyze profitability by division, department, crew, and project.\r\nOversee job costing and work-in-progress reporting.\r\nTrack and report key financial and operational KPIs.\r\nManage banking relationships, lines of credit, and financing arrangements.\r\nCoordinate with external CPA firms, tax professionals, and auditors.\r\nEnsure compliance with GAAP and applicable tax regulations.\r\nPurchasing & Procurement\r\nOversee purchasing processes across all divisions.\r\nReview and approve vendor invoices and purchase requests.\r\nDevelop strong vendor relationships and negotiate favorable pricing.\r\nMonitor inventory levels and purchasing trends.\r\nEnsure materials are ordered, staged, and available for upcoming projects.\r\nImplement purchasing controls and accountability measures.\r\nFleet, Equipment & Asset Management\r\nOversee company fleet including trucks, trailers, heavy equipment, and small equipment.\r\nCoordinate preventative maintenance schedules and repair tracking.\r\nMonitor fleet utilization, operating costs, fuel consumption, and replacement planning.\r\nManage vehicle registrations, licensing, and compliance requirements.\r\nAssist in evaluating and purchasing equipment and capital assets.\r\nDevelop long-term fleet replacement strategies.\r\nTechnology & Administrative Operations\r\nOversee company technology systems, software platforms, and vendor relationships.\r\nAssist with implementation and optimization of business software including BossLM, CRM systems, and other operational tools.\r\nEnsure proper data management, cybersecurity awareness, and system functionality.\r\nDevelop and improve administrative processes and internal controls.\r\nMaintain accurate company records and documentation.\r\nHuman Resources & Risk Management\r\nOversee payroll processing and benefits administration.\r\nAssist ownership with compensation planning and workforce budgeting.\r\nManage workers' compensation reporting and claims administration.\r\nCoordinate insurance renewals including general liability, commercial auto, property, and workers' compensation policies.\r\nSupport onboarding, employee documentation, and compliance requirements.\r\nAssist leadership with performance metrics and accountability systems.\r\nLeadership & Strategic Planning\r\nServe as a member of the Leadership Team.\r\nParticipate in annual strategic planning and budgeting.\r\nDevelop dashboards and scorecards that provide visibility into company performance.\r\nProvide department managers with meaningful financial and operational reporting.\r\nIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and scalability.\r\nHelp create systems and processes that support long-term growth.\r\nPromote Rooted Landscape's core values and culture throughout the organization.\r\nQualifications\r\nBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.\r\nCPA or CMA preferred but not required.\r\nMinimum of 5 years of progressive accounting, finance, or business management experience.\r\nPrevious Controller, Accounting Manager, Finance Manager, or Operations Manager experience preferred.\r\nExperience within landscaping, construction, pool construction, field services, or related industries strongly preferred.\r\nStrong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, cash flow management, and job costing.\r\nExperience managing purchasing, inventory, and operational processes.\r\nAdvanced proficiency with accounting software, Excel, and business management systems.\r\nStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.\r\nHigh level of integrity, accountability, and attention
