Stepdown Unit Nurse (RN) in Battle Creek, MI
Provide specialized nursing care on a stepdown unit focused on general medical and oncology patients. This role requires strong clinical skills, including administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs, supported by experience with equipment such as Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC documentation software.Location Situated in Battle Creek, MI, this assignment offers exposure to a dynamic healthcare environment serving a diverse patient population in a stepdown setting.Responsibilities Deliver comprehensive nursing care to gen med/oncology stepdown patients Administer chemotherapy intravenously following safety protocols Utilize Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps for patient monitoring Accurately document care in EPIC electronic health records Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and support staff Manage nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, with support available for higher ratios Float to other medical-surgical areas such as acute units and ER as needed Participate in block scheduling and adhere to weekend assignment requirements Qualifications & Experience Michigan RN license required ONCC or ONS certification must be current; pending ONS certification accepted BLS (AHA) certification required Minimum 2 years of experience in PCU/Stepdown nursing Proficient in chemotherapy administration and intravenous therapy Schedule Night shifts, 3x12-hour (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Every other weekend, scheduled by manager Self-scheduling options available for all other shifts Must be available for first two weeks of assignment Return-to-Office requests discussed on site with manager This contract opportunity in Battle Creek, MI, provides a challenging yet rewarding environment with potential block scheduling accommodations.
