This position will be responsible for managing the team, planning all construction sequencing and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.\nAutonomy and Decision Making: Makes decisions within defined limits of authority and consults supervisor on other decisions.\nCareer Path: Sr. Superintendent.\nKey Role Responsibilities - Core\nSUPERINTENDENT FAMILY - CORE\nLeads all aspects of the company’s safety culture and creates awareness by demonstrating commitment to an injury-free environment through individual actions and mentoring others. Investigates safety incidents and retrains staff and needed.\nProvides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow.\nManages and oversees company staff, subcontractors, suppliers and programs such as Safety, Quality and EEO for a small project or a major portion of a larger project.\nDevelops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.\nCoordinates and manages the care, custody and control of the project site.\nLeads various meetings including daily standup and weekly trade meetings.\nAttends, manages and participates in appropriate progress and/or project OAC meetings.\nCreates, manages, changes and implements the project’s schedule as needed, in conjunction with the Project Manager.\nMay be responsible for tracking and monitoring project budget and costs by using the project management system’s cost reports and data from the project manager.\nCommunicates key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments.\nFollows the project filing and documentation organization system as dictated for the project. Updates drawings, logs, diaries and inspection notebooks.\nApproves and/or records unit cost information for weekly reports and completes daily reports, logs and tracking reports.\nEvaluates progress on self-perform work and make adjustments as needed.\nManages material and equipment needs for the project.\nSupports the MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes.\nAssists in the selection of the formwork, tools and equipment necessary to complete self-perform operations.\nManages timecard approval process to ensure reporting of accurate hours and proper cost codes.\nEnsures quality compliance through use of specifications, setting quality standards, in–house QA/QC and outside resources.\nSupports the project closeouts by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating activities with the owner, architect and governing authorities.\nGains understanding of the project pursuit process and methodology.\nParticipates with the field operations leadership and the project team to put together a project pre plan; implements, monitors and adjusts as needed throughout the project lifecycle.\nPartners with field leadership to establish field staffing for their assigned project.\nPartners with project management to identify schedule and costs associated with project changes.\nParticipates in the negotiation process with the owner and architect to gain agreement for project changes.\nParticipates with the project team in preparation and presentation for all project review meetings, including the monthly review process and other key project meetings.\nParticipates in the project buy out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.\nUnderstands and applies the terms and conditions of the owner and subcontractor contracts for the project.\nResponsible for identifying and recruiting top talent.\nLeads, supports and promotes a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn. Understands JE Dunn’s policy of non-discrimination and ensures positive, proactive implementation throughout the organization.\nKey Role Responsibilities - Additional Core\nSuperintendent 3\nIn addition, this position will be responsible for the following:\nManages moderately complex stand-alone projects from start to finish.\nManages projects with multiple field supervisors.\nMay play a lead role in project pursuit process.\nCollaborates with marketing team on related presentations and marketing activities.\nDevelops new business opportunities and generates future work by cultivating and maintaining long-term relationships with clients.\nAssumes responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety and quality on their project or their portion of the project.\nIdentifies, understands and actively manages project risks.\nUtilizes awareness, experience and knowledge to identify problems and recommends solutions for review and implementation by the team.\nManages deliverables provided by a variety of internal resources and functions such as IPS, logistics, etc.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nAbility to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner.\nCommunication skills, verbal and written (Intermediate).\nAbility to conduct effective presentations (Intermediate).\nProficiency in MS Office (Intermediate).\nAbility to apply fundamentals of the means and methods of construction management to projects.\nKnowledge of project processes and how each supports the successful completion of a project.\nAbility to build relationships with team members that transcend a project.\nProficiency in project management and accounting software (Intermediate).\nProficiency in required JE Dunn construction technology (Intermediate).\nProficiency in scheduling software (Intermediate).\nAbility to apply Lean process and philosophy (Intermediate).\nKnowledge of specific trades and scopes of work (Intermediate).\nKnowledge of self-perform and labor productivity (Intermediate).\nAbility to manage budgets, maximize profitability and generate future work through building relationships (Intermediate).\nKnowledge of organizational structure and available resources.\nKnowledge of layout skill (Advanced).\nKnowledge of crane flagging and rigging (Advanced).\nAbility to understand document changes and impact to the project schedule.\nAbility to build relationships and collaborate within a team, internally and externally.\nEducation\nHigh School Dilploma or GED.\nBachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field (Preferred).\nExperience\n8+ years construction experience.\n5+ years field supervision experience.\nExperience with Lean principles (Preferred).\nWorking Environment\nValid and unrestricted drivers license required\nMust be able to lift at least to 50 pounds\nMay require periods of travel and/or relocation\nMay be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)\nMust be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs\nFrequent activity: Standing, Walking, Climbing, Bending, Reaching above Shoulder, Pushing, Pulling\nOccasional activity: Sitting, Viewing Computer Screen\nBenefits Information\nThe benefits package aligned to this position is Professional Non-Union.
