OverviewThe Medical Assistant provides patient care in a physician’s office setting under the direct supervision of a licensed physician. Clinical skills performed are within the scope of a Medical Assistant as defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure.This role supports both clinical and administrative functions within the practice. The Medical Assistant may also be required to float to other UFHP practices as needed to support staffing needs.ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesProvide direct patient care under physician supervisionAssist with clinical procedures and patient examinationsPrepare patients for visits, including vital signs and medical history documentationMaintain accurate and timely patient records in the medical record systemPerform clerical duties including scheduling, insurance verification, and patient communicationsSupport physicians and clinical staff with patient flowMaintain compliance with clinical policies and proceduresFloat to other UFHP practices as needed for staffing supportQualificationsMinimum QualificationsGraduate of an accredited Medical Assistant programCertification or registration as a Medical Assistant from an accredited organization such as:AAMANHANCCTAMCAAMTEMT license may be accepted in lieu of MA certificationAbility to multitask and work in a fast-paced clinical environmentStrong problem-solving skills and teamwork abilitiesDemonstrated initiative and willingness to take on additional responsibilitiesPreferred QualificationsOne (1) year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care or physician office settingLicensure / Certification RequirementsMust possess and maintain current Medical Assistant certification or registrationBasic Life Support (BLS / CPR) certification requiredMust obtain within 90 days of employment if not currently certifiedCertification must be through the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red CrossAdditional InformationThis position does not require operating a motor vehicle for business purposes.Candidates must be able to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare environment.
