This role requires reading manufacturing prints, machine drawings, and operator manuals, adjusting tooling and process parameters, interpreting programs, and collaborating with Engineering to solve problems and optimize operations. The machinist will operate material handling equipment, use various measuring tools, and perform miscellaneous tasks. Overtime may be required.\nEssential Job Duties and Responsibilities\nCNC Mill, Lathe, and Mill Turn Machining - 60% of time\nOperate 3 and 5 axis vertical and horizontal mills, lathes, and mill turn machines.\nPerform CNC setups, including truing up locating surfaces.\nVet CNC programs and cutter selection on legacy CNC tooling.\nTrain less skilled Machinists and Operators.\nEnsure correct fixturing is used and maintained.\nProgram pre-setters and shrink-fit equipment and set tool life parameters.\nUnderstand macro programming and subroutines tied to main programs.\nUnderstand fundamentals of GD&T dimensioning and tolerancing.\nLoad NC programs, adjust offset tables, maintain, and replace cutting tools.\nElectronically document in-process data to maintain QA and production system requirements.\nMeasure and record QA data, including dimensions and serial numbers.\nPerform measuring equipment calibration checks.\nKnowledge of Fanuc, Haas, Mazatrol, Fagor, and Siemens controls.\nMachine Setup and Prove Out - 20% of time\nOperate material handling equipment including hoists, cranes, and tow motors.\nRead and understand detailed prints and work instructions.\nUtilize indicators, micrometers, and calipers to accurately align workholding.\nAssemble tools and accurately set tool length, alignment, and runout.\nKnowledge of work offsets and tool offset parameters in each control type.\nCapable of proving out 1st piece setups on different types of equipment.\nGeneral Skills Required for All Operations - 20% of time\nUse calipers, depth gauges, micrometers, and fabricated gauging equipment.\nUtilize tool setting equipment.\nUtilize computers, control, and data collection software.\nTrack orders, maintain traceability, and move material to enable efficient production flow.\nCommunicate well with associates, supervision, engineering, and management.\nWork in teams for daily production and improvement opportunities.\nExperienced associates assist in training new recruits.\nPerform 6S & housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, clean, efficient work environment.\nStand for extended periods, walk, bend, stoop, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.\nMinimum Qualifications\nThe following qualifications are required to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities:\nEducation Level: High School Diploma or GED\nField of Study/Area of Experience: Machine Tool Technology\nExperience: 2-4 years of experience in CNC machines\nSkills, Knowledge, and Abilities\nAbility to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.\nAbility to research and analyze data effectively.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nAbility to read blueprints and process specification instructions.\nWell-organized, detail-oriented, and able to multi-task.\nAbility to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision.\nAbility to visualize and plan objectives and goals strategically.\nTeam-building skills.\nIntermediate level knowledge of CNC software applications and strong understanding of CNC operating systems.\nGood knowledge of related technologies such as CAD-CAM.\nExperience and knowledge of computers and applications.\nCompetencies\nCore Competencies\nEnsures accountability - Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments.\nSituational adaptability - Adapting approach and demeanor in real-time to match the shifting demands of different situations.\nCollaborates - Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.\nDecision quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.\nOther Competencies\nAction-oriented - Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.\nCommunicates effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.\nTech-savvy - Anticipating and adopting innovations in business-building digital and technology applications.\nSelf-development - Actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged using both formal and informal development channels.\nEnvironmental & Physical Requirements\nWork may be performed in a manufacturing environment.
