The Assistant Manager ensures efficient operations and delivers a fast, friendly, and clean guest experience by managing staffing levels, inventory, labor, cash controls, and maintenance needs.\r\nEssential Functions\r\nProvide active, visible floor leadership during shifts, supporting team members in real time, addressing workflow gaps, and ensuring smooth operations\r\nProvide prompt, courteous customer service in accordance with company standards\r\nAccurately process customer transactions using point-of-sale systems\r\nMaintain a clean, safe, and organized store environment\r\nPerform assigned food service tasks following food safety and sanitation requirements, as applicable\r\nPerform interior and exterior store duties necessary to support daily operations\r\nKey Responsibilities\r\nManager-on-Duty / Shift Leadership\r\nAct as the manager-on-duty during assigned shifts in the absence of the Store Manager\r\nAssume full responsibility for store operations, team performance, and customer experience during the shift\r\nDirect, prioritize, and assign work to CSRs to ensure efficient and effective operations\r\nMonitor performance and provide real-time coaching, guidance, and corrective instruction as needed\r\nEnsure compliance with company policies, procedures, safety standards, and cash-handling guidelines\r\nServe as the primary point of contact for customer issues, emergencies, and operational concerns\r\nDocument and communicate shift activities, incidents, and follow-up needs to store management\r\nCustomer Service\r\nGreet and acknowledge every customer to create a welcoming environment\r\nAssist customers and provide product or service recommendations\r\nHandle customer concerns and complaints professionally and resolve issues within policy guidelines\r\nEscalate unresolved issues to store management when appropriate\r\nMonitor store activity and report suspicious behavior or safety concerns\r\nCommunicate clearly and effectively with team members and guests\r\nSales and Cash Handling\r\nPromote customer loyalty and enroll customers in the rewards program\r\nStay informed on current promotions, advertised products, and sales\r\nUpsell by recommending complementary or similar items\r\nAccurately process transactions using the POS system while following cash-handling and loss prevention procedures\r\nEnsure all items are scanned, paid for, and secured, especially high-risk merchandise\r\nVerify ID and comply with age-restricted sales laws and policies\r\nEnsure accurate pricing, labeling, and promotional updates\r\nExplain car wash programs and assist with traffic flow during peak times if applicable\r\nStore Cleanliness and Appearance\r\nInterior\r\nMaintain clean, sanitary, and well-stocked restrooms, food service stations, and customer spaces\r\nEmpty interior trash receptacles and keep register area clean, neat, and organized\r\nRespond to spills and maintain clean organized cooler and storage areas\r\nEnsure floors, displays, and merchandise are organized and maintained according to merchandising standards and planograms\r\nExterior\r\nMaintain the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the exterior area, including parking lot, fueling areas, entrances, and dumpster areas\r\nEnsure safety by shoveling and salting walkways, pump areas, and car wash entrance/exit if applicable and notifying maintenance of any lighting issues\r\nMaintain fuel station and dispenser areas by cleaning equipment, monitoring conditions, replenishing supplies, and reporting issues as needed\r\nMonitor exterior equipment and fixtures for cleanliness, functionality, and signs of damage or tampering and report issues as needed\r\nPerform tasks such as picking up trash, emptying trash receptacles, basic landscaping upkeep, minor painting or touch-up tasks, and spill response as needed\r\nOperational Support\r\nPrepare and serve food items in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards\r\nAudit inventory on a regular basis; including lottery, cigarettes, other tobacco products\r\nReview DVR system to monitor store activity.\r\nSupport inventory management activities including receiving deliveries, stocking merchandise, rotations, product placement, and removing expired or damaged products\r\nMonitor in-ground gasoline storage inventory.\r\nTroubleshoot and report any equipment or maintenance issues.\r\nSupport store operations during high-volume periods, staffing shortages, or special promotions as needed\r\nResponsible for recruiting and training new team members\r\nRun daily reports, reconcile shift sheets, complete PDI reporting, and banking procedure.
