Engineering Technician

Job Description Engineering Technician position supporting the FAA Technical Support Services Contract 5 (T5). This role involves site preparation, installation, testing, and maintenance of voice, fiber optic, and radio communication systems across the FAA's regions. Responsibilities Assist with site preparation for voice switches at Enroute Centers and Terminal TRACONs. Assist with Fiber Optics Terminal System (FOTS) installation across the Northwest Region. Assist with electronics installations, integration, and testing for rehoming and monitoring of AFSS radio systems. Install Radio Control Equipment (RCE) such as VHF and UHF radio communication systems. Remove and repair or replace components, wires, terminal blocks, and connectors. Solder, splice, or install and repair various wire types including coaxial, shielded, solid, and stranded wires. Test and troubleshoot electrical components using schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and other technical data. Troubleshoot, repair, align, and calibrate audio equipment and voice communication systems. Install sensors, wiring, cabling, computers, radios, and satellites in fast‐paced, all‐weather environments. Perform additional responsibilities as required. Required Qualifications High school diploma required. 10+ years of experience testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and installing fiber optics, radio control systems, and complex electronic equipment. Ability to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, etc.). Capable of lifting at least 50 pounds. Capable of climbing towers up to 50 feet. Basic Microsoft Office, internet, and email proficiency. Must meet customer security requirements (moderate to high risk). Background check by federal authorities will be performed. Desired Qualifications Advanced electronics training from junior college, military service, or trade school. Security Clearance None Benefits Salary Range: $15.68 - $71.30 per hour.
