The Human Resources office for both campuses is located on the West Campus in Building K, Suite 111.Job SummaryThis part-time position provides course-specific peer tutoring for students while assisting students in improving academic achievement through academic support strategies. Additional tasks include providing course support and study group sessions and integrating effective learning and study strategies and applying principles and practices of supplemental instruction support.ResponsibilitiesConducts face-to-face, online, and peer one-on-one and group tutoring sessionsProvides supplemental instruction supportAttend class sessions for Co-requisite Math or English to assist students who utilize the centersCommunicate effectively with faculty and Academic Support Services on classroom visitsAssists students with specific course-related concepts and problemsFacilitates development of effective, related study skillsConsults with faculty for course resources, guidance, and directionProvides course-related support resources such as handouts, worksheets, or additional learning activitiesConducts announcements to promote Academic Support Services Participates in trainings and regularly scheduled meetings with faculty and supervisorPerforms related duties as assignedWorks no more than 19 hours a weekRequired QualificationsMust be a current Albany State student enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hoursOverall 3.0 GPA, minimum final grade of A in tutoring course selectionException to accept B+, with process and justification and documentation is needed Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesKnowledge of elated subject-matter content, principles, and peer tutoring strategiesKnowledge of research formats, classroom practices, teaching methodologies, and educational technologySkill in the operation of computers and job-related software programsSkill in timely decision-making and problem-solvingSkill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the publicSkill in oral and written communication Contact InformationFor more information or questions about a job posting, please contact the Office of Human Recourses at (229) 500-2026, or by email at hrasu@asurams.edu.
