SummaryThe Teacher, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), is responsible for theinstruction of all areas of Exceptional Student Education in a classroom setting.DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS: All district employees must: Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance. Physical presence is a part of a reliable andpredictable pattern of attendance. Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan. Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism. Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties andresponsibilities of their positions.Responsibilities Designs and implements appropriate Specially Designed Instruction, accommodations, andsupports assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs. Develops and implements Individual Educational Plans (IEP) plans for students to include presentlevels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives,and the special education and related services required to meet those goals. Creates a positive educational climate for students with disabilities to learn in an atmosphere ofrespect and rapport. Employs various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students tomeet their Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals. Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors studentassessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance. Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom managementstrategies, implementing positive behavior supports and evidence-based interventions, andinvoking appropriate disciplinary procedures. Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress andencourages parental involvement. Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protectequipment, materials, and facilities. Provides oversite to paraprofessionals Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, data and full timeequivalency (FTE) documentation. Attends workshops and trainings to continue to build in Exceptional Student Educationknowledge and skills. Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required. Performs any other duties as assigned.Responsibilities and tasks outlined in this document are not exhaustive and may change asdetermined by the needs of the district.Other InformationCommunications: Expresses ideas and thoughts verbally. Writes speeches and effectivelypresents to managers, the public, and school board.Mathematical Skills: Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference,and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry. Applies concepts such as fractions,percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability: Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables insituations where only limited standardization exists.
