We are dedicated to building an exceptional aviation team and welcome skilled professionals to join our growing organization.Role Description45 North Aviation is seeking a Maintenance Service Manager to support and coordinate aircraft maintenance operations. This customer-facing role serves as the primary point of contact for maintenance clients, managing communication, scheduling, and coordination of maintenance events while aligning customer needs with shop capacity to ensure efficient workflow and timely return to service. The position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and technical understanding of aircraft maintenance, along with the ability to prepare estimates, support invoicing, and communicate maintenance scope clearly. This is a hands-on role involving both administrative and operational responsibilities, including participation in maintenance activities on the floor as needed. The role offers a pathway to senior maintenance leadership, based on performance and regulatory qualifications. Applicants should be based in the are of Traverse City, MI. Key Responsibilities* Serve as the primary customer liaison for all maintenance events* Build strong relationships with aircraft owners and operators* Coordinate and schedule aircraft maintenance with customers and shop personnel* Manage maintenance workflow and shop scheduling to optimize efficiency* Communicate maintenance findings, required work, and recommendations to customers* Prepare maintenance estimates, review scope of work, and explain costs* Generate invoices and assist with payment collection* Coordinate with vendors and external service providers as needed* Support maintenance team on the shop floor as needed* Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the maintenance process* Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance operations and customer experienceRequired Qualifications* FAA A&P License OR General Aviation Avionics experience (Garmin preferred)* Strong understanding of aircraft maintenance processes and systems* Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills* Ability to clearly explain technical maintenance items to customers* Comfortable with technology, including estimating, invoicing, and basic systems/software* Strong organizational and scheduling skills* Ability to multitask * Must be legally authorized to work in the United States* Must pass FAA/DOT drug and alcohol testing and background checksPreferred Qualifications and Personal Traits * FAA Inspection Authorization (IA)* Experience with Garmin avionics systems* Previous experience in aircraft maintenance coordination or service management* Leadership or supervisory experience in a maintenance environment* Experience working in a Part 135 OR Part 145 operation* High-energy, solutions-oriented mindset* Strong attention to detail and follow-through* Team-oriented with a proactive attitudeBenefits* Blue Cross Blue Shield (50% company-paid)* Dental & Vision insurance* SIMPLE IRA with 3% company match* Paid Time Off (PTO)* Paid holidays* Career growth opportunities within maintenance leadershipCompensationCompetitive compensation package based on experience, certifications (A&P/IA), and overall fit.
