Paraprofessional I-ESSFTE: 0.875 FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt HOURS PER DAY: 7 WORK CALENDAR: 195 days COMPENSATION: Classified Non Exempt Compensation Guide (Starting at $17.85/hour)ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively and to become as independent as possible in the classroom and communityAssists with learning activities within the general education and/or special education classroomProvides before and after school tutoringMonitors classroom assignments given by the teacherMaintains confidential classroom student files and recordsAssists with inventory and accounting procedures of special education classroom materialsAssists with the implementation of instruction modifications per the Individualized Education PlanCommunicates with teachers and parents regarding the students' needs and progressAssists students in the areas of personal hygiene skills, as neededAssists teachers during field tripsAssists with student testingPrepares materials for classroom useAssists nurse with vision and hearing screeningsParticipates in the AHCSS Provider Program and completes forms for Direct Services claimsMaintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issuesProvide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and communityPerform responsibilities in an ethical and professional mannerMaintain punctual and regular attendancePerform other related duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREDEducation / CertificateAssociate of Arts degree or paraprofessional certification requiredMust obtain and maintain CPR and first aid certification within 45 days of hireMust sign an AHCSS Provider Participation Agreement and obtain a provider number as requiredMust have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance CardExperiencePrior experience working with special education students desiredMust have Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and specialized training for developmentally disabled studentsMust be 21 years of age or older upon hireCommunication SkillsMust possess a positive attitude toward students, teachers, staff and parents/guardiansComputer SkillsMust possess basic computing and clerical skillsPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
