Pediatric Neurologist - Marshall Health Network

Pediatric Neurologist The Division of Neurology is part of a comprehensive neuroscience center that collaborates with Marshall Health Network, a network of 3 hospitals (only one of which houses pediatric inpatients) and numerous outpatient facilities serving as the clinical arm of the School of Medicine at Marshall University. The Marshall Health Network includes Cabell Huntington Hospital, a 303-bed teaching hospital (level II joint trauma center), St. Mary’s Medical Center, a 413-bed teaching hospital, Hoops Family Children’s Hospital, a 72-bed pediatric specialty hospital within Cabell Huntington Hospital (features a dedicated children’s hospital and a NAEC Level 3 epilepsy program offering advanced epilepsy care, pediatric sleep medicine, and a variety of other pediatric subspecialities); and Rivers Health, a 101 acute-bed hospital. At Marshall Health, our pediatric neurologists work as a team with the child’s pediatrician and other pediatric specialists to care for children with more complex medical conditions, such as epilepsy, birth defects, or intellectual disability. These conditions are chronic, requiring ongoing care and close follow‑up throughout childhood and adolescence. The Division of Neurology has grown considerably over the years with 11 adult neurologists, 2.5 pediatric neurologists, 3 NP’s, and 3 neuro psychology PhD faculty. Marshall University also has an ACGME Fully Accredited Adult Neurology Program with 5 residents per year for four years of post‑graduate training. There is currently no residency/fellowship available for child neurology. Schedule: 4 days of clinic and 1 administrative day (flexible; providers may increase clinic time based on productivity and preference). Practice Locations: Inpatient: Single hospital connected to the neurology clinic (consultative service only). Outpatient: Primary clinic located in Teays Valley, where most neurologists practice, offering strong patient volumes and a favorable payer mix. Clinical Mix: Approximately 85% outpatient / 15% inpatient. Outpatient volume averages 12–16 patients per day, with flexibility to increase based on provider preference. Inpatient service consists of consults only, averaging 1–2 consults per day while covering. Some inpatient days may have minimal or no consults; physicians may return to clinic as needed. Call Structure: Shared call rotation of 1:3 (generally Monday–Sunday coverage). Pediatric residents take first call, followed by neurology residents, then faculty. Faculty are typically called approximately one night per week. Average of fewer than 1.5 consults per day. On‑call physician rounds the following day on overnight consults (typically 0–3 new patients). Support: Dedicated clinical pharmacists and support staff are available to assist with patient care. Candidate Requirements – Pediatric Neurologist Board eligible or board certified in Neurology. Fellowship training in Child Neurology required. Open to both experienced physicians and newly trained graduates. J‑1 and H‑1B visa candidates are welcome to apply. #J-18808-Ljbffr
