Position InformationClassification Title Extension Program Asst I FLSA Non-Exempt FTE 0.475 Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentPreferred Qualifications Position SummaryThis position conducts 5th-8th grade 4-H educational program in-classroom meetings, 9th-12th grade meetings, and a monthly senior 4-H meeting. It will also help 4-H'ers with project achievement and be responsible for weekend events and community service projects.This is a fast-paced position, and activities each day will vary week to week and month to month. Indoor and outdoor activities are expected in this role.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or CompetenciesProficient in typing, filing, computer skills such as Windows and Microsoft Office, social media, leading youth programs in different environments, and use of a smartphone.Strong organizational and other soft skills, working knowledge of office practices and procedures.Ability to use independent judgment and discretion with confidential information.Ability to work with limited supervision.Critical thinking skills, initiative, mastery of content, time management, and attention to detailPhysical DemandsPack and move boxes, handle equipment, load and unload vehicles, outdoor garden work, leading classrooms, setting up rooms for program delivery, etc.Travel to Extension events, as well as provide transportation to these events for youth or adult participants utilizing county vehicles such as a 10-passenger van or minibus.Sit at a desk or stand in a classroom setting for extended periods of time.Driving, walking, running, bending, stooping, stairs, uneven ground.Is driving a responsibility of this position? Please visit the UGA Background Check website.Duties/ResponsibilitiesDuties/ResponsibilitiesConduct in-school club meetings and deliver prepared curriculum that meets state (Georgia Professional Standards) guidelines.Plan ahead and cooperate with staff members to coordinate programs.Assist 4-H'ers in preparation for 4-H competitive events, including project achievement, judging teams, etc.Transport or arrange for transportation of 4-H'ers to various district and state-level events, and if assigned, provide leadership for youth while attending these events.Incorporate the results of program evaluations and feedback in planning future programs and techniques used in implementing programs.Develop school break activities for all youth ages.Coordinate event details, budget, travel with youth, and coordinate with staff about activities, etc.Activities each day will vary week to week and month to month.
