The role requires strong math, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently on 12‑hour shifts, including every other weekend. Technicians must also support lean initiatives, maintain safety standards, and assist with continuous improvement efforts across the department.\n\nDuties/Responsibilities:\n\nThe position requires handling chemicals, using volumetric glassware, analytical balances, pH meters, and SPIN meters.\n\nResponsible for preparing standards and vats used in the daily testing of SPIN disks.\n\nConducts performance tests on start‑up and hourly disk samples.\n\nConducts physical/vacuum testing on pouched disk products.\n\nResponsible for interpreting data and making reagent adjustments as needed.\n\nInvestigates customer complaints pertaining to SPIN products.\n\nQualifications/Requirements:\n\nMinimum requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent and general laboratory work experience.\n\nGeneral computer knowledge and the ability to use Microsoft Works and Excel.\n\nExcellent math and problem‑solving skills are required.\n\nMust be able to work independently and as part of a team and work overtime as needed.\n\nMust be able to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.\n\nExcellent communication skills are a must. The Position requires communication with SPIN production personnel and QC and R&D personnel.\n\nIndividuals must be focused on the task and not easily distracted.\n\nParticipates in lean activities, including but not limited to:\n\nLean training and lean events such as kaizen or a 5‑day event.\n\n5‑S program in department or other areas assigned.\n\nDMAICs. Continuously looks for ways to improve both the departments and own individual efficiencies and time management, as well as ways to improve any aspect of the Company’s operations and develops and implements DMAICs accordingly.\n\nCompletes monthly safety observations.\n\nNotifies Supervisors/Managers of any production, equipment, safety, personnel problems, etc. and cooperates in resolving such issues as well.\n\nProvides Supervisors/Managers with feedback to determine where additional training would benefit and obtains additional training as necessary.\n\nAssists in other department activities as needed and performs other duties as assigned.\n\nComplies with all Company policies (i.e. personnel, safety, etc.).\n\nEnvironmental Factors & Mental/Physical Demands:\n\nWorks indoors in a humidity and temperature‑controlled environment.\n\nRequires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, reaching, climbing step ladders, transporting up to 50 pounds, handling loaded pallet jacks & operating various equipment.\n\nRequires mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, communication, judgment, decision making and troubleshooting skills, ability to multi‑task, and attention to detail.\n\nRequires good color perception and ability to pass a color test\n\nLaMotte offers paid time off including vacation, sick leave, and paid holidays.
