Apply today to join the Long Lines team!\n\nTitle\nCommunications Tech 1\n\nLocation\nOffice located in Sergeant Bluff, IA\n\nRate\n$18.00-$21.00/hour\n\nFull-Time/Part Time\nFull-Time\n\nReporting to\nLead Tech\n\nPrimary Responsibilities Include\n\nInstall, disconnect, connect, upgrade, downgrade, make changes,troubleshootand repair customer provided services at residential and commercial locations.\n\nMaintain broadband system by testing to locate trouble, opening cable to replace or repair defective sections and closing or sealing cable.\n\nSplices cable to protector devices and central office main distribution frame and splices drop cable to the central office cable system.\n\nEducate customers in the services being provided and the proper use of equipment, propose solutions, and describe advantages of and sell additional services.\n\nMaintain an appropriate and professional image of the company through appearance, demeanor, driving habits, and interactions with customers.\n\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nQualifications\n\nHigh School Diploma or GED\n\nA valid Driver’s License and clean driving record is required\n\n1–2 years of CATV, fiber installation, or other relevant technical/electronic experience.\n\nAble to install, troubleshoot, and repair customer products/services using knowledge of plant distribution, fiber systems, and customer equipment.\n\nAbility to install and run fiber drops, interior fiber pathways, and terminate customer fiber services.\n\nAble to locate and mark underground services utilizing test equipment, prints, and database mapping software.\n\nSplice and repair fiber, including fusion splicing, ribbon splicing, and prepping fiber terminals for activation.\n\nKnowledge and experience working with electronics, DC power, and fiber optic equipment.\n\nAble to properly operate small hand tools, power tools, and test equipment.\n\nAble to work independently and plan tasks to complete projects efficiently.\n\nStrong computer skills in Word and Excel.\n\nAble to accurately measure distances using tapes or other measuring devices.\n\nAble to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires/cables.\n\nAbility to work in tight spaces including attics, crawl spaces, cabinets, utility closets, and telco rooms.\n\nKnowledge of and ability to comply with all OSHA, FCC, NEC, and local ordinances.\n\nWorking Conditions\n\nLift and carry up to 75 pounds.\n\nWalk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools, equipment, and ladders.\n\nKneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting, pulling, bending, pushing, and reaching above head.\n\nWork indoors in poorly ventilated areas such as attics during extreme heat.\n\nExposure to dust, dirt, noise, and insects.\n\nOn-call rotation every 3 weeks.\n\nWork schedules may adjust based on business needs.\n\nWhy Join Long Lines Broadband?\nWhen you join Long Lines, you’ll be part of an award‑winning company and team.
