The position offers hands‑on design ownership from concept through production, cross‑functional collaboration, and the opportunity to engineer solutions that directly impact product quality, yield, and throughput.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nDesign and develop mechanical systems—mechanisms, motion systems, robotics, and automation—from concept through production release.\n\nCreate CAD models and detailed drawings (\"SolidWorks\"), including BOM development and maintenance.\n\nCollaborate with procurement and external vendors to source and oversee fabricated components.\n\nParticipate in hands‑on assembly, testing, debugging, and refinement of designs.\n\nIntegrate mechanical, electrical, and software components into cohesive systems; support testing, verification, and validation.\n\nAssist with electronics, sensor, and actuator subsystem design, including component selection (drivers, sensors, motors, controllers).\n\nSupport development of control software/firmware, including motion control algorithms, safety interlocks, data acquisition, and HMI.\n\nTroubleshoot, optimize, and improve existing systems through root‑cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.\n\nWork collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Development, and other engineering teams.\n\nMinimum Qualifications\n\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field.\n\n3–5 years of experience designing mechatronic systems, automation equipment, or production‑automation solutions.\n\nProficiency with CAD software (\"SolidWorks\", \"AutoCAD\").\n\nExperience with electronics and motion control, including motor/drive systems, sensors, and embedded controllers/PLCs.\n\nHands‑on experience with fabrication, machining, measurement tools, and precision mechanical assembly.\n\nStrong problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis skills with a continuous‑improvement mindset.\n\nEffective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nMaster’s degree or higher in a related field.\n\nHands‑on experience with electrical integration, including soldering, cable fabrication, and electrical measurement.\n\nExperience in optics, laser systems, semiconductor equipment, or other precision manufacturing environments.\n\nExperience with cleanroom manufacturing, vacuum systems, or optics handling.\n\nFamiliarity with safety standards (machine guarding, interlocks, CE/UL) and regulatory compliance.\n\nExperience or familiarity with photonics/laser technologies used at Attalon.\n\nFor California, the hourly base pay range for this role is $91,625.00 - $156,600.00.
