Senior Trailer MechanicLocation: BTS ShopDivision: BTS (Bengal Transportation Services)Schedule: Days | 5x8's (40 hours/week)Pay: Starting at $30/hour (higher based on experience)Start Date: ASAPEmployment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewBengal Transportation Services is hiring a Senior Trailer Mechanic to support our shop operations. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining trailers to ensure safety, reliability, and full DOT compliance.We are looking for a high-level mechanic with strong trailer rebuild and repair experience who can work independently and keep equipment moving.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative maintenance and inspections on dry van, flatbed, and specialty trailersDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, air, and structural systemsRepair/replace:Brakes, hubs, drums, bearings, sealsSuspension components and air systemsLanding gear, doors, roofs, and flooringInspect and repair 12V electrical and ABS systemsPerform tire service (repair, replacement, rotation, torqueing)Conduct and document DOT inspectionsComplete minor welding and fabrication as neededMaintain accurate work orders and documentationEnsure a safe, clean, and organized shop environmentCommunicate repair status and safety concerns to leadershipRequired QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED5-10+ years of trailer repair/rebuild experience (preferred)Strong knowledge of:Trailer brake systemsSuspension and structural componentsElectrical and ABS systemsExperience with tools, lifts, and shop equipmentAbility to read and interpret work orders and inspection reportsValid driver's license (MVR required - heavy truck classification)Ability to pass:Drug screenDOT physicalPhysically capable of lifting, bending, climbing, and working in shop conditionsPreferred QualificationsTechnical school certification (diesel/truck/trailer repair)Experience with DOT inspections & FHWA out-of-service criteriaWelding and fabrication experienceExperience with liftgates or specialized trailer systemsSchedule & Work ConditionsDay shift - 5 days/week (8-hour shifts)Overtime as required / based on workloadWork performed in shop and occasional outdoor yard conditionsExposure to noise, equipment, and weather conditionsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly pay starting at $30/hour (higher based on experience)Overtime opportunitiesCompany-provided uniformsFull benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, etc.)Stable, long-term work environmentHiring RequirementsInterview requiredDrug screen requiredMVR required (Heavy Truck)DOT Physical requiredValid driver's license requiredEqual Opportunity EmployerBengal Transportation Services is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on protected status.Salary: $30 per hour
