The Mine Manager leads a team of 379 to operate a medium sized Open Pit Mine including Mine Operations and Mine Maintenance.The Day To DayMine LeadershipProvide balanced, strategic leadership in all functions and activities of the Mining Department to maximize productivity at the most reasonable cost. This includes mining operations, equipment maintenance, budgeting and cost controlsSupport the development, execution, and ongoing optimization of operational and asset management strategiesEnsure best practice methods and continuous improvement systems are developed and maintained for the Mine Department and benchmarked against other operations Seek opportunities to grow inter-departmental partnerships to promote teamwork and deliver optimized resultsMaintain and drive continuous improvement in mining operations, maintenance, forecasting, budgeting, cost controls and reportingLiaise with internal corporate and functional leadership to drive alignmentGeneral LeadershipUnwavering focus on safety and environmental stewardshipParticipate as a member of the CC&V Site Leadership Team to develop strategic organizational initiatives for the improvement of site-wide performance objectivesProvide safety and environmental leadership by always setting the example, inspiring our safety vision, challenging the processes, empowering the workforce, and celebrating our successesDevelop and implement annual financial operating and capital budgets and forecasts that ensure compliance with organizational and strategic expenditure requirementsDevelop, exemplify, and maintain positive and effective leadership and skills within the mine department, at all levelsDevelop and maintain positive and effective professional working relationships with all stakeholdersProvide balanced strategic leadership both short term, and long term through 12 to 18 months with strategic planning initiativesLead staff members in daily operations by providing administrative and technical direction in accordance to CC&V procedures to achieve safe, efficient, and effective resultsHold self/direct reports and department members accountable to safe and productive work practices as outlined within CC&V guidelines and proceduresAttract and grow a strong team aligned to deliver the site strategySet team priorities in the context of the site and department goals to best utilize the skills of the teamEstablish and maintain continuous improvement work practices that align with the CC&V safety culture and strategic business plan initiativesHave a strong field presence by driving meaningful safety interactions and condition inspectionsIs This You?B.S. in Mining Engineering or equivalent related degree preferred10+ years of experience in the mining industry with proven experience leading safe operations in an Open Pit environment5+ years of overall progressive supervision experience. Relevant experience in open pit operations, preferredExperience impacting and influencing employee motivationPrior experience in effective change management techniques and applicationRelevant experience leading programs for monitoring compliance, action planning, and verification of controls, preferredAbility to read, comprehend, interpret, and learn mining literature, technical data and manuals and use the information to improve operations, prevent loss or minimize riskExcellent people skills in the areas of coaching and mentoring, data organization and evaluation skillsDecisive with the ability to influence direction and manage organizational changeAbility to set up, administer and audit systems for compliance, action planning and controlPresentation, interpersonal and communication skills appropriate to all organizational levelsSelf-starter with excellent team building and motivational skillsAbility to build commitment and alignment in teams and in individualsStrong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlinesStrong understanding of MSHA regulations relating to mining practicesWorking Conditions & LocationPosition based in the United States at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine, located in Teller County Colorado.Ability to alter work schedule when required.Must be able to work at high altitudeFor applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $165,000 to $206,000SSR Mining Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
