Join us.\n\nJob Description\n\nJob Description\nAECOM is seeking an initiative-taking electrical engineer with an electrical engineering background to be based in the Phoenix, Arizona office to support mining projects in the planning and design phases.\nOpen to considering individuals that are not from the mining field but that have industrial electrical engineering experience.\nJob Summary/Responsibilities\nTechnical resources may serve as technical advisor for team.\nProvides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.\nDevelops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by others.\nParticipates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.\nProvides guidance to entry level engineers.\nDevelop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.\nWorks on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and designs.\nProposes approach to solve problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.\nIdentifies discrepancies in results and presents alternative solutions to solve the identified discrepancies.\nServe as lead electrical engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large size projects.\nPerforms work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.\nIndependently perform all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.\nPerforms quality control review of design calculations or drawings.\nComplete calculation packages for the sizing of electrical equipment.\nDevelop reports in Microsoft Word to communicate the technical results of the calculations or design packages, including summaries, figures, tables, methodologies, and explanations.\nPerform early project design work such as conceptual studies, electrical loads, equipment sizing and selection, datasheets, and general arrangements.\nDevelop design documents including electrical equipment, material specifications, equipment specifications and vendor data requirements.\nPerform detailed technical bid analyses for electrical equipment and electrical systems.\nReview of vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards as well as project specific requirements.\nProvides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.\nEnsure the required services meet project requirements on time and within budget.\nCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually and in a team environment.\nProvides project leadership in the areas of electrical engineering and design, investigations, analysis on multi-disciplinary mining projects.\nCoordinate and direct staff on designs, specifications, drawings, figures, reports, and calculations on multi-disciplined design efforts.\nWork with existing and potential clients to provide electrical engineering and design solutions on mining projects.\nProvides input for the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.\n\nQualifications\n\nMinimum Requirements\nBachelor's degree in electrical engineering + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in electrical engineering.\nPE in Arizona.\nValid U.S. Driver’s License\nPreferred Qualifications\nOn-site field experience in construction, commissioning, and start-ups.\nPE in New Mexico, Denver, Utah, Nevada or ability to acquire a PE.\nMSHA Miner training\nExperience in processing instrumentation and controls.\nLead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings.\nWorking knowledge of 3D CAD systems to coordinate with designers to produce construction-level drawings.\nStrong written and oral communication, quantitative, and people skills\nStrong work ethic and professional demeanor.\nInitiative-taking on assignments and demonstrate initiative.\nAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines.\nAuthor reports and prepare detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references.\nMust be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.\n\nAdditional Information\n\nSponsorship will not be provided for this role.\nRelocation is not provided for this role.\nWillingness to travel to domestic and international locations for projects.\nAbout AECOM\nAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
