The position ensures optimal pharmaceutical care through adherence to departmental policies and procedures.Essential Responsibilities:Deliver medications promptly to nursing units and return items as needed, completing rounds efficiently and ensuring proper storage of refrigerated items.Maintain and restock automated dispensing cabinets accurately, verifying medication placement, counts, and expiration dates.Perform aseptic compounding of parenteral admixtures and sterile dosage forms, following proper techniques and quality control documentation.Process floor stock requisitions, maintain logs, monitor stock levels, and remove expired medications from units.Handle controlled substances with care, including preparation of proof-of-use sheets, restocking, waste disposal, and compliance with regulations.Assist pharmacists with order entry, medication labeling, and customer service, including phone triage.Restock anesthesia dispensing cabinets and kits, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory management.Package bulk medications correctly, maintain controlled substance logs, and submit products for pharmacist verification.Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned, adhering to hospital and departmental policies, and never releasing medications without pharmacist approval.Supplemental Responsibilities:Support other technician staff during low staffing periods within training limits.Answer phones promptly with a professional and friendly demeanor, referring calls appropriately.Manage multiple priorities effectively and assist in training new employees and students.Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to dress code standards.Follow all hospital and departmental procedures and project a positive professional image.Skills and Abilities:Adaptable to change and interruptions.Motivated to improve skills and assist others.Demonstrates initiative and responsibility beyond expectations.Works well within a team and interacts effectively with diverse individuals.Exhibits strong guest relations skills, showing courtesy, compassion, and respect.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.Current valid State Pharmacy Technician license or Pharmacy Technician in Training license.Obtain national certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board within one year of hire.Maintain qualifications as outlined in the Pharmacy Department Technician Ladder for Technician I.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Working Conditions: This role requires independent decision-making, the ability to prioritize tasks, and effective coordination with coworkers.
