You will serve in a technical role on bridge design projects and perform structural analysis and design for all structural aspects of transportation highway projects on local and national projects.\n\nWe’ll look for your knowledge and experience in: analysis as well as the development of design, plan preparation, specifications, and reports. Inspection may be required on occasion.\n\nThe final candidate could be located near our offices in Reston, Richmond or Virginia Beach, VA.\n\nWhat you’ll need\n\nBachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering\n\nRegistered Professional Engineer (PE) in VA, or obtainable in 6 months\n\nPrevious experience working with VDOT, including familiarity with their Office Practice Manuals, Stage I reports, and Stage II requirements for submission.\n\nAbility to produce design documentation/calculations and specifications.\n\nWorking knowledge of CAD systems, specifically MicroStation to include experience with VDOT CADD Compliance Standards and use of MDLs.\n\nProficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., MDX, LEAP Bridge, Larsa).\n\nA thorough understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to transportation structures.\n\nMinimum of 4 years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on bridge design\n\nExcellent communication and teamwork skills.\n\nIdeally you’ll also have\n\nDemonstrated experience on various types of bridges, including both concrete and structural steel bridge types\n\nExperience in both new bridge design as well as maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and preservation.\n\nMaster’s degree in Structural Engineering\n\nProven experience with BrIM workflows and OpenBridge Designer (Bentley Systems).\n\nActive involvement in local engineering societies.\n\nOur health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about.
