Our Access Control team develops the software that securely manages millions of door events every day, connecting cloud services, mobile apps, web applications, and edge hardware into a seamless customer experience.\n\nWe're looking for an Engineering Manager who enjoys building products, growing engineers, and solving difficult technical problems. This role is ideal for someone who has spent years writing production software and now wants to multiply their impact by leading a high-performing engineering team.\n\nWhat You'll Do\nLead, mentor, and grow a team of frontend and backend software engineers through coaching, regular feedback, career development, and hiring.\nOwn delivery for major customer-facing initiatives from concept through production.\nPartner closely with Product Management, Design, Firmware, Mobile, and other engineering teams to define roadmaps and execute against ambitious goals.\nDrive technical direction while empowering engineers to make architectural decisions.\nFoster a culture of engineering excellence through thoughtful code reviews, design discussions, testing, and operational discipline.\nHelp build highly reliable, observable, and scalable distributed systems that power millions of real-time events.\nImprove engineering processes, execution, and team health while maintaining a high quality bar.\nParticipate in hiring and help build an exceptional engineering organization.\nWhat You Bring\n7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience in Python, Go, or React\n1+ years managing software engineers.\nExperience building production software across both frontend and backend systems.\nStrong software architecture and system design skills.\nExperience designing and operating distributed systems in production.\nDemonstrated ability to lead large cross-functional technical projects.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nProven ability to attract, hire, mentor, and retain exceptional engineers.\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.\nUS Employee Benefits\n\nVerkada is committed to fostering a workplace environment that prioritizes the holistic health and wellbeing of our employees and their families by offering comprehensive wellness perks, benefits, and resources.
