Division Manager of Land Clearing
Casella Construction is seeking to hire a Division Manager of Land Clearing to lead our Land Clearing Division based in Pittsford, Vermont. The Division Manager of Land Clearing ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. They ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and regulatory standards. As the Division Manager of Land Clearing, your responsibilities include leading field teams, managing budgets and timelines, maintaining customer relationships, and supporting employee development. Additionally, herbicide application oversight, contractor training, and ensuring compliance with ANSI and OSHA safety standards. Preferred qualifications include a VT or NH Pesticide License, ISA Certified Arborist designation, and formal education in Forestry or Tree Management.
The ideal person for this role is a seasoned operations leader with deep expertise in vegetation management and a hands-on approach to project execution. Division Manager of Land Clearing is highly organized, safety-focused, and skilled in managing crews, budgets, timelines, and customer relationships. Responsibilities:
Lead and support general forepersons and field crews to ensure operational excellence across all vegetation management activities
Oversee project bidding, including estimating fixed-price lump sum work, and managing awarded projects from start to finish, ensuring alignment with budget, scope, timelines, and customer expectations
Maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and consistent delivery of high-quality arboricultural services
Ensure strict compliance with safety policies and procedures, including training, tailgate meetings, and incident resolution in partnership with the corporate safety team
Monitor and manage equipment maintenance, repairs, and procurement processes to support field operations
Collaborate with Human Resources on workforce planning, recruitment, employee development, and performance management
Drive continuous improvement in operational practices and ensure adherence to company policies and industry standards
Participate in industry associations and stay current with vegetation management regulations, including NERC FAC-003 and ISO NE OP#3 compliance
Communicate regularly with the Vice President of Operations and other operational leaders to align strategic goals and field execution
Training requirements, both in person and online, as needed or required
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in vegetation management, utility arboriculture, or related field operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership or project management role
Proven ability to estimate and bid work, including fixed-price lump sum projects
Demonstrated success in managing projects from initiation to completion, including budget oversight, scope control, timeline management, and customer relations
Strong understanding of safety regulations, compliance standards, and incident management practices
Proficiency in project planning, resource allocation, and operational reporting
Experience in employee development, including coaching, performance management, and team building
Strong working knowledge of herbicide application, including compliance with state licensing requirements (VT or NH Pesticide License preferred)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams and with external stakeholders
Familiarity with NERC FAC-003 and ISO NE OP#3 vegetation management standards is preferred
Proficiency in operational planning, resource allocation, and equipment management
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, field-based environment
Willingness to travel within the assigned region and participate in industry events and training
Experience conducting contractor and crew training on safety, operational procedures, and technical skills
Certified Arborist credentials (ISA or equivalent) strongly preferred

Hiring Range: $80,000/yr. - $120,000/yr.
This range reflects the base pay we reasonably expect to offer for this position at the time of posting, considering current market conditions and industry benchmarks.
