We are seeking an entry level to experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.\nThis is a full-time position with a full benefit package listed below that includes opportunities for professional growth, direct hire by our customers, and additional opportunities within our own organization.\nMechanical Design Engineer\nThe selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff in the development of large diesel or gas engine sub-systems. Work will include product design, product improvement, cost reduction, and product health in large engine systems. The work will be highly collaborative with both internal customers and external suppliers.\nResponsibilities:\nProvide engineering support for several existing component families and associated sub-systems\nDetermine suitability of applying existing components and/or sub-systems to new engine applications\nLead and manage requirements definition, design concepts, analysis/simulation, design down select, part procurement, validation activities, product cost, and associated timing for new components and sub-systems within the NPI (New Product Introduction) process\nLead and support the closure of formal CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) and NPI (New Product Introduction) issues thru the Six Sigma DMAIC process\nLead team meetings with Air Systems suppliers to manage existing purchased finished components and to develop new purchased finished components from concept thru start of production\nPerform first order calculations, analyze data, and summarize data in order to articulate design tradeoffs or support design validation activities\nIdentify and apply design standards, expertise from COEs (Centers of Excellence), Air Systems standard work, and expertise from Air Systems peers to a variety of design projects\nInterface with a multitude of proprietary computer systems to obtain, upload, &/or manage information\nCollaborate with internal process partners, suppliers, and internal/external customers on multiple projects that will be taking place simultaneously\nCreate and present informal and formal design reviews\nAssemble &/or disassemble prototype components &/or sub-systems\nPerform detailed inspections of new &/or field returned components\nTravel to other facilities, suppliers, &/or customer sites (< 10% of time)\nBasic Qualifications:\nBachelors Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an accredited university.\nEngine Component and system level design experience\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nStrong problem-solving skills\nStrong organization and time management skills\nPreferred Skills\nCrankcase ventilation components and sub-systems experience\nEngine Component and system level design experience\nExperience collaborating with suppliers utilizing APQP processes\nExperience with NPI (New Product Introduction) and CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) process and timelines\nComponent level design experience with castings, fabrications & injection molded polymers\nCREO 3D modeling and simulation skill set\nStrong analytical skills\nDemonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously\nDemonstrated capability to be successful in an engineering role with minimal formal processes & procedures (self-starter)\nVisa sponsorship is NOT available for this position.\nPay Range: $65,000-$80,000 – Commensurate with experience\nAbout RFA Engineering\nRFA Engineering has provided product development and engineering services to industry leading customers since 1943.
