McGraw School seeks a passionate Early Childhood & K–1 Special Education teacher to serve young learners with diverse needs in an inclusive, developmentally appropriate environment. The successful candidate will champion each child's unique strengths, ensure compliance with federal and state law and build strong partnerships with families and multidisciplinary teams.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Special Education; valid Maine Teaching Certification — endorsements 282 B and 282 requiredDeep knowledge of early childhood development, developmentally appropriate practices, and special education law (IDEA, MUSER)Expertise in IEP development, implementation, compliance, case management, and transition from early childhood FAPE services to public schoolStrong collaboration skills; ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and familiesPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Special Education or related fieldABA and PBIS training; knowledge of assistive technology and AAC systemsKey ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement individualized IEPs using evidence-based, hands-on practices; manage caseload and ensure full IDEA/MUSER complianceDeliver specially designed instruction in the Least Restrictive Environment; conduct assessments and monitor progress toward IEP goalsCollaborate with families, related service providers, and specialists to provide comprehensive, integrated programmingSupport early childhood-to-public-school transitions; celebrate each child's unique achievementsPlease submit the Teacher Application to the Superintendent of Schools.
