Job Summary: The Family Connections Consultant I provides direct, home-based support services to families involved with the Department of Child Safety. This role focuses on strengthening family protective factors, enhancing caregiver capacities, and promoting child safety through culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and evidence-based intervention and support services. Salary: $22 hr Responsibilities: Work directly with families involved with the Department of Child Safety to support child safety and family stability Provide intervention services related to parenting, mental health, domestic violence, and substance misuse/abuse as needed Conduct assessments to help ensure a safe environment for children Meet with families to provide consultation, education, and skill development related to family functioning and safety Support services that strengthen family protective factors and enhance caregiver capacities Assist with service planning, linkages, and transition to ongoing supports, including helping families access financial, social, medical, educational, and employment resources Provide substance use education and linkage to treatment providers as needed Establish and maintain confidential case records for each client receiving services Document and submit required paperwork including progress notes, statistics reports, daily activity logs, incident reports, and special concerns Monitor, observe, and document interactions and behaviors between parents/caregivers and children during home visits, including modeling appropriate behavior and de-escalating conflict Work cooperatively with the Department of Child Safety (DCS) to support assessments, service planning, required reports, and meetings Develop caring, supportive, strength-based, culturally competent, and trauma-informed relationships with families and community partners Maintain professional representation of A New Leaf in all interactions with clients, staff, and community members Attend meetings, trainings, and special projects as requested by management Qualifications:Education: Bachelor of Social Work or a related bachelor’s degree, required. Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the human services field Experience working with multi-problem families and complex family systems Knowledge of family dynamics and family-centered service approaches Knowledge of community resources and ability to assist families in accessing services Experience supporting families impacted by substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, trauma, sexual abuse, or related challenges Working Conditions/Physical Requirements: Work is performed in office settings, community locations, and client environments Frequent travel within the community to attend meetings, oversee services, and support staff Use of personal vehicle to transport clients and conduct agency business Participation in on-call rotation as scheduled Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. for materials or office supplies. Standard office environment with exposure to typical office equipment, such as computers, phones, and printers. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. Mandated Reporter Requirements: As a mandated reporter under Arizona statute A.R.S. § 13-3620, you are required to immediately report any suspected abuse or neglect of a minor to your Supervisor, Manager, Director, Clinical Director, or Chief Officer, who will assist in making the appropriate report to authorities. Reports should be directed to either the local law enforcement agency or child protective services (1-888-SOS-CHILD). Abuse suspected of involving a family member or legal guardian should be reported to child protective services, while other cases should be reported to law enforcement.
