A commitment to service excellence is expected of all employees as they perform their tasks.\nGeneral Summary: The Apprentice Fiber Optic Technician will work closely with seasoned Highline staff to professionally install fiber optic cable lines using light industrial equipment such as small trenchers and perform home installations of broadband (internet) services, including premise wiring and home networking.\nNo experience necessary, Highline will teach you how to professionally perform the duties of a fiber optic technician and associated fiber and technology. This position requires working outside and indoors in Park County (Bailey-Fairplay-Hartsel).\nDuties/ Responsibilities:\nAssist construction team with installingfiber optic cable lines using light industrial equipment such as small trenchers.\nAssist network technicians with home installations of broadband (internet) services, including Optical Network Terminals (ONT’s) routers, premise wiring and home networking.\nDevelop, maintain, and utilize knowledge of splicing fiber optic cable.\nCommunicate effectively to complete tasks on time and safely according to Company standards and procedures.\nLearn how to locate buried cable.\nWork is normally performed in all weather conditions, noise levels, hazardous conditions, and full range of outdoor and indoor work surfaces.\nRun fiber optic and network cable through conduit.\nMaintain a clean and secure environment of company assets and property.\nMaintain good attendance and appearance.\nOvertime may be required to meet project deadlines.\nTravel as necessary to meet demands of the business.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned.\nAbility to communicate both oral and written (electronic), with co-workers, customers, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.\nAbility to pay close attention to detail.\nAbility to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.\nAbility to multitask while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.\nAbility to climb ladders.\nAbility to safely use small hand tools.\nAbility to work well with limited supervision.\nKnowledge:\nKnowledge of computers, smart phones and devices\nExperience and Education:\nNo Experience Necessary\nHigh School Diploma or GED required\nRequirements:\nMust be 18 years of age.\nProlonged periods working outdoors.\nMust be able to pass pre-employment background and drug screenings (and Random Selections)\nMust wear Personal Protective Equipment and use safety equipment, as designated.\nMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.\nMust be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.\nMust have a valid (State) driver’s license and be insurable by Highline insurance carrier.
