This position involves building and maintaining core systems, including operating systems, compilers, networking components, databases, and web-based applications, and ensuring their performance, scalability, and reliability. The engineer also evaluates software compatibility with hardware environments and contributes to architectural decisions that optimize system integration and efficiency across platforms.\n\nPosition Reports to: Sr. Software Engineering Manager\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\nUnderstand end-user requirements.\nWrite commercial/enterprise-grade software.\nProvide input on designs for software enhancements and new products.\nAbility to identify the presence of code\nDocument and communicate on technical topics without direction.\nWork under limited direction of a manager and/or team lead to implementing software enhancements, correcting defects, and/or creating new products.\nUnderstand hardware and software systems.\nProficient in programming while working in a team.\nWorks well in a team. Team-oriented, collaborative, accountable, and dependable.\nSelf-directed learning of the application subject matter\nRequired Qualifications:\nProven software engineering expertise, 8+ years in software development\nProficient in one or more programming languages (TypeScript, C++, Rust)\nProficiency in Agile Tools (Jira, GitHub, VSCode).\nUnderstands the concepts of data structures and algorithms.\nAble to write high-quality code with minimal support.\nGood understanding of trade-offs in solving problems that have variable levels of complexity.\nUnderstanding memory allocation and management mechanisms, security mechanisms, processing allocation mechanisms, and currency control of target operating systems.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nCan-do attitude\nProficient on Mainframe environment\nSolid understanding of SDLC and CI/CD processes, with experience writing code that includes comprehensive unit test coverage.\nActive contributor to one or more open-source projects.\nExperience working with the Federal Government in Australia\nExperience with distributed systems and enterprise-scale applications.\nFamiliarity with DevOps practices and modern software architecture.\nAdvanced degree (MBA or MS in Engineering).\nEducation:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent\nTravel Requirements:\n0 - 10%\nInformation Security:\nInformation security is everyone’s responsibility.
