This role is hybrid in Hampton, VA and full-time.What You'll DoAbility to lead cross-functional teams without direct authorityEvaluates together with the core team members the customer requirements, compliance requirements and internal requirements and supports clarification of imprecise requirements to achieve clear product specificationsSecures that the defined development process is being followed including checklist applied, project reviews held, risk analyses conducted and escalates to his/her manager as neededEnsures that each task within the project is done correctly and with the quality required for a successful launch of the projectEnsure quality planning, documentation, and customer submissions comply with ITAR and export control requirementsSupports the design and drawing review meetings to achieve the quality standard, structure, and contentMake sure the product & design validation is planned and executed successfully prior to Start of Production (SOP)Supports the project until it is mature enough to be transferred to Manufacturing Quality teamsCollects, registers, supports and evaluates any variations from customer requirements during LEANPD projects. The AQE is the 8D problem solving team leader for issues during product developmentSupports but does not own the FMEA. Acts as FMEA moderator and quality authority, ensuring robustness and risk adequacy to achieve the quality standard, structure, and contentLeads and coordinates Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and completed per LEANPD requirementsControl Plan owner and will lead Control Plan meetings including assigning actions and ensuring they are completedSupports and promotes product standardization as well as updates to the design standardsResponsible for driving the "Lessons Learned" process and "Read Across" of lessons during project start and project development and in case of customer complaints during project phase to avoid re-occurrence for new developmentsDrives monitoring and improvement of development process KPIs and implementation of process improvementsSupports the implementation and training of quality standards and improvements to existing development processes and sub-processes in engineering departmentsCollaborates introducing and training of quality and engineering related software packages, quality procedures and systemsHosts and leads audits as a part of a LEANPD projectCollects and checks the quality and content of the customer production approval documentation and is responsible for any submission to customer, as well as gaining customer approvalAudits APQP documents, such as DFMEA, PFMEA, process flowchart and production control plan and ensures responsible parties effectively close his/her findingsSupports improvement of existing APQP system by giving feedback and input to process ownersPromotes quality culture by supervising and consulting on methods and tools. e.g. 8D training, root cause analysis, risk management, variant comparisonRepresents the company to the customer in quality-related tasks during the LEANPD projectReviews LEANPD deliverables in advance of Project Approval Committee (PAC) to make sure projects are ready to be presented on the PAC meetings, escalating to management instances where deliverables are not satisfactorily metWhat You'll NeedRequired:B.S. degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field8+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, with significant involvement in NPI / APQP activities for regulated productsKnowledge of quality related activities, particularly APQPKnowledge of Industry Standards such as AS9100, ISO13485 and ISO22163Problem Solving Abilities using 8D methodologyKnowledge in in core tools such as: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC and MSAInternal Systems AuditorExperience with software for creating FMEAs and Control Plans (APIS IQ-RM Pro preferred)Experience using statistical software such as MinitabCertified Six Sigma Black or Green BeltPhysical DemandsAbility to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standardsAbility to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitorMust be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in personSedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc$60.00 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education.
