It serves as a gateway to a wealth of other services in the facility, including legal, healthcare, employment training and opportunities in partnership with the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development, Christopher Place Employment Academy, government benefits, a computer lab and a clothing closet. Breakfast is served every weekday to the elderly and those with special needs.JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Work to maintain a safe and secure environment both inside and outside properties for clients, staff members, volunteers, and visitors.\r\nHandle specialized tasks which include monitoring the compliance of policies and procedures, reporting incidents, writing violations, and emergency intervention as required.\r\nAssist with the orientation of residents and/or volunteers. Provides guidance and assistance to by being observant and attentive to both positive and negative behavior and reporting activities to supervisor (as needed).\r\nWillingly works with clients and volunteers, demonstrating the philosophy of Catholic Charities and the program through participation in activities, positive communication, and helpful attitude.\r\nMaintain logs and files related to various programs, records entries accurately reflecting events as they occurred.\r\nEnsure residents are aware of their rights and the grievance process.\r\nMonitor building activity to help ensure safety, security, and compliance with building policies and procedures.\r\nReact to emergency situations appropriately and in a professional manner.\r\nWork as a member of a team environment in collaboration with all other employees and volunteers to deliver the highest quality services to all clients.\r\nPerform other duties as assigned.\r\nPROGRAM/POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:Employees working in the following program(s) have additional responsibilities and/or requirements in addition to the others listed. These include, but are not limited to:ODBEC/Christopher’s Place – Security(950000) :Ensures that residents are accounted for before, during and at the conclusion of the shift.\r\nAdministers urinalysis when required.\r\nEnsures residents complete their daily tasks and that their behaviors are in accordance with the program guidelines.\r\nProvides security to the facility by inspecting the persons and property of visitors and clients prior to allowing them entrance to the facility.\r\nConduct periodic security checks throughout the building and report unusual activity to supervision.\r\nRespond to, and assist, in emergency and/or security incidents.\r\nConducts room inspections and assesses level of compliance to established policies and procedures.\r\nProvide general assistance to guests and assist in various aspects of delivery of services including assisting in the operation of meals, clothing, laundry, restroom, and shower rooms.\r\nPrior security experience.\r\nEXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:One year of related experience preferably working with the homeless or at-risk populations.\r\nCERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:Must be certified in CPR and/or First Aid within six months of employment.\r\nREQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:Ability to utilize, or willingness to learn computer systems and software, necessary to perform position functions.
