The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining cloud-based applications and infrastructure on AWS. You will work closely with development, operations and security teams to ensure the scalability, performance and security of cloud applications. The hired individual will also participate in on-call rotations to support 24/7 production systems and respond to incidents as they ariseRoles & Responsibilities:Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as TerraformHands-on experience with Amazon EKS (cluster provisioning, upgrades, node groups management)Familiarity with EKS networking (VPC CNI, security groups for pods, ALB/NLB ingress controllersKubectl proficiency and general Kubernetes object management (deployments, services, configmaps, secrets, RBAC)Monitor and troubleshoot production systems using AWS CloudWatch and other observability toolsCollaborate with developers to containerize and deploy applications using ECS and LambdaDeploy applications across multiple environments (dev, staging, prod) and ensure consistency and stabilityMonitor deployments and system health using CloudWatch and other toolsTroubleshoot and resolve deployment issues and improve pipeline performance and reliabilityPerform daily health checks using AWS CLI or scheduled Lambda scripts to check health and log/report resultsCollaborate with development team and DevOps teams to ensure applications are stateless and fault-tolerantImplement enhancements to containerized environments on ECS, focusing on scalability, performance and observabilityEnhance container orchestration strategies, including auto-scaling, rolling deployments and upgradesSupport feature branch testing, merge request validation and artifact promotion workflowsEnsure pipeline security and compliance through automated code scanning and approval gatesResponsible for remediation of OS-level, container and dependent vulnerabilitiesOrchestrate failover and restoration of ECS/ EKS services, Lambda functions, databases and other infrastructure componentsTest and document regional failover playbooks and recovery runbooksEnsure compliance with RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and RPO (Recovery Point Objective) requirementsDiagnose and resolve production issues related to cloud services, container orchestration, databases and CI/CD pipelinesFollow and improve incident response playbooks, escalation procedures and communication workflowsAutomate common operational tasks and improve alert accuracy to reduce on-call fatigueLog incidents, changes, and operational metrics in tracking systemsQualificationsBasic Qualifications:Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD or 12 years of experience with HS Diploma/equivalent3 years of IT experienceHands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based deployment strategiesFamiliarity with image registries like Amazon ECR and CI/CD pipelines for container deploymentProficient with Python, Bash, YAML/JSON, Node.js, Lambda functionsProficient in scripting languages like Python, Bash and Node.js.Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (GibHub, GitLab, Kubernettes, DevOps, CI)Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and implementationAWS or relevant Cloud certifications (AWS DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect Associate)Solid understanding of cloud architecture principles, autoscaling strategies and load balancingProficient with monitoring, alerting and logging toolsStrong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholdersExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsMust be a US Citizen.Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearancePreferred Qualifications:Familiarity with container orchestration (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes)Knowledge of ITIL practice or incident management frameworks DetailsTarget Salary Range: $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
