SQL Tuning & Optimization: Expert-level ability to analyze, rewrite, and optimize complex, slow-performing SQL queries to minimize CPU, I/O, and memory consumption. Performance Measurement: Proficiency using Oracle diagnostic tools—such as Explain Plan, TKPROF, SQL Trace, Autotrace, and AWR/ASH reports—to measure, benchmark, and iteratively test query performance. Indexing & Storage Strategies: Solid understanding of Oracle indexing mechanisms (B-tree, Bitmap, Function-Based, Covered Indexes) and data access paths (Full Table Scans, Index Scans, Hash Joins) to maximize data retrieval efficiency. Database provisioning. Iterative Tuning Methodology: Ability to establish performance baselines, formulate tuning hypotheses, execute controlled tests, and document measurable improvements. Application performance monitoring and tuning: Experience tuning applications including .NET, C#, and Citrix environments.
