The department offers a range of lower- and upper-division Political Science and General Education undergraduate courses for political science majors and non-majors.Duties of the PositionTeaching assignments may be in lower-division or upper-division courses in the following areas: American Government (such as American Political Institutions, California Politics/Public Policy, among others), Public Law, Political Theory, and Comparative Government. Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. Faculty members are expected to perform all duties within the state of California.Rank and SalaryLecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges. The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.Date of AppointmentFall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.QualificationsMinimum M.A. in Political Science; Ph.D. in Political Science, or a J.D.
