You are reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team. You bring a positive attitude, flexibility, and strong communication skills to every task.\n\nThis Position Pays:\n\n$25 - $25\n\nWhat You Will Be Doing:\n\nCook daily meals and assist with menu prep.\nEnsure proper food safety and sanitation; wash dishes and maintain a clean kitchen and storage areas.\nAssist with inventory management, program statistics, and coordination with shelter staff.\nDrive agency vehicle to deliver meals to various sites.\nHost and serve Community Meals, including setup/breakdown, directing volunteers, serving food, and light janitorial tasks.\nParticipate in trainings and meetings.\nPromote a safe, healthy, and clean working environment.\nPerform other tasks as assigned under supervision of the Program Manager.\n\nWhat You Bring:\n\nCA Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain) and CPR/First Aid Training.\nAt least one year of food prep or cooking experience in a restaurant or group setting.\nUnderstanding of and sensitivity to the needs of homeless, low-income, mentally disabled, and chemically dependent individuals; lived experience preferred.\nAbility to interact professionally and supportively with diverse staff and participants.\nStrong interpersonal, crisis intervention, written, and oral communication skills.\nAbility to drive frequently, lift up to 50 lbs., and maintain physical stamina required for the role.\nValid California driver’s license, ability to maintain insurability, TB clearance, and criminal records clearance.\n\nTo learn more about the workplace culture and the position, please apply!\n\nFor over 50 years, Nelson Connects has empowered employers and job seekers to achieve their unique versions of success.
