Director of Logistics

A fast-growing automotive aftermarket distributor is seeking a hands-on Director of Logistics to lead day-to-day logistics operations across import, transportation, and FTZ activities. This is a player-coach role focused on execution, process improvement, and building structure within a growing operation. Key Responsibilities: · Oversee inbound import logistics (2,500+ containers annually) and coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and brokers · Manage internal transportation operations (fleet, drivers, scheduling, and warehouse transfers) · Lead and mentor a small logistics team (coordinators, transportation, FTZ support) · Drive process improvements to enhance visibility, efficiency, and cost control · Monitor shipments to minimize delays, demurrage, and detention charges · Utilize Excel and logistics systems to track performance, analyze data, and support decision-making · Partner cross-functionally with warehouse, inventory, and supply chain teams Required Skills & Experience: · 6–10+ years in logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations · Strong experience in import logistics / ocean freight / container operations · Hands-on experience with transportation, fleet, or distribution operations · Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (reporting, tracking, analysis) · Experience working with carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs · Exposure to FTZ, customs, or bonded freight · Experience in warehouse or distribution environments What We’re Looking For: · Hands-on, player-coach leadership style · Comfortable working in a small team, high-growth environment · Strong problem-solving and operational mindset · Ability to build structure, processes, and accountability · Effective communicator across operations and leadership Location: · On-site role based in Loris, SC.
