Job DescriptionTo coordinate and provide equipment and facility set-up for meetings, conferences, and special events; provide customer service to building patrons; monitor facility use and ensure conformance with policies and procedures; perform facility maintenance and cleaning; perform related work.
The successful candidate will perform heavy-duty cleaning and related maintenance work in an assigned area or building complex; provide customer service to building patrons; monitor facility use and ensure conformance with policies and procedures; provide limited equipment and facility set-up for meetings, conferences, and special events; perform related work. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.
Key ResponsibilitiesFacility Maintenance and Cleaning:
Performs comprehensive cleaning and sanitation of all facility areas, including restrooms, furniture, floors, and windows.
Handles waste removal and proper use of cleaning products and equipment, including floor refinishing and light bulb replacement.
Event Setup and Safety:
Interprets event plans, arranges equipment (seating, tables, staging, AV), and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
Monitors facility for safety and security, responding to incidents (theft, vandalism, etc.) and recommending solutions.
Customer Service and Support:
Provides customer assistance, resolves complaints, and fulfills last-minute requests related to room setup and AV equipment.
Offers directions and event information to customers and visitors.
Minimum QualificationsSome knowledge of: Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing whole numbers.
Experience: Providing customer service. Explaining and applying policies and procedures. Using tools, equipment, materials, and common practices used in facility preparation including custodial work. Setting work priorities. Interpreting written and oral instructions.
Specialty RequirementThese positions at ISU require a valid driver's license.
Supplemental InformationThis position involves the following as part of the essential functions of the job:
Repetitively lifting and carrying items weighing up to 60 pounds.
Standing and walking during eight-hour shift.
Bending, stooping, climbing stairs and ladders, and operating lifts.
Requires working up to 30 feet above floor level.
Incumbents must have sufficient speech & hearing acuity to perform customer service activities.
Incumbents are subject to call-in for work during special events including evenings and weekends.
Incumbents wear proper safety equipment when exposed to chemicals, toxins, or blood borne pathogens.
