In this role, you will review and evaluate engineering plans, specifications, technical reports, and supporting documents submitted for a wide range of public and private development projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and a thorough understanding of design standards, regulatory requirements, and permitting processes.ResponsibilitiesReviewcivil engineering improvement plans to ensure conformance with agency standards, ordinances, project conditions of approval, and industry practiceReview grading and drainage plans for various compliance conditionsReviewstormdrain plans and hydrology/hydrauliccalculations and reports for various compliance conditionsResolve problems related to local city codes and city specificationsin order tobring drawings and specifications into complianceCoordinate with Surveyorsregardingtentative maps and/or land development applications for conformance with agency standards (entitlement process)Assistinestablishingand/or revising departmental policies due to changes in methods of construction or field applications of codes; Trains staff in application of new codes, policies, and proceduresCoordination of transportation infrastructure projects including roadways, corridors, roundabouts, curbs, retaining walls, overpasses, transit facilities, and ADA curb rampsCoordination of traffic engineering projects including signal design, pavement marking/striping, signage, and multimodal corridor improvementsPreparation of geometric design plans and profiles in compliance with Caltrans, local, and regional standardsDevelopment of grading, drainage, and stormwater management plans for transportation corridorsDesign of transportation-related utility systems and coordination with public agencies and utility providersDevelopment of quantity takeoffs and cost estimatesIntegration of multimodal and sustainable design elements such as complete streets, green infrastructure, and ADA complianceApply Federal, State (e.g. Caltrans), City, and County codesPreparation of conceptual design studies and alternatives analyses for roadway and multimodal improvementsOther related duties as assignedRequirementsBachelor’sof Sciencedegree from an accredited college or university with a major inCivil Engineeringor a closely related field.5+ years of progressively responsible workin public works or a related setting.Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with architects, engineers, builders, inspectors, and thegeneral public.Must have the ability to communicatetotrain staff.Role requires 10-30% of travel timePhysical Demands: Must be able to regularly talk, hear and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse and occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations.Work Conditions: Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds at a low or moderate level consistent with an office setting. Exposure to high-stress, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Travel to other BKF locations and client sites may be required.BenefitsThe typical base salary range for this position is $105,000.00- $128,000.00, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
