The Controller manages cash, depository, and treasury functions while also being involved in the day-to-day business by being the go-to person on financial transactions across all departments of the organization – equipment sales, parts, rentals, and service.\nEssential Duties & Responsibilities (includes but is not limited to the following):\nEnsures accurate data entry and reporting for all accounting functions within the company, including:\nRevenue and accounts receivable – along with the accounts receivable accounting staff, monitors proper entry of departmental transactions, oversees payment application and deposits (including proper application of credit card payments), provides customer with monthly statements, manages house credit accounts and communicates with customers that are overdue on payment.\nExpenses and accounts payable – along with the accounts payable accounting staff, ensures accurate data entry of all incoming invoices, manages company credit card user transactions, and executes timely payment of outstanding amounts due.\nInventory and floor plan debt – along with the Asset Manager, tracks inventory movement and related floor plan debts; directly handles floor plan payments and ensures timely payoff of sold inventory.\nDebt and Fixed Assets – maintains accurate records of fixed assets and related indebtedness.\nTreasury – continually manages cash balances, line of credit availabilities, floor plan debt, and intercompany balances. Monitors expected inflows and outflows, and reports to the CFO on a daily basis.\nEnters most cash-related transactions directly into the CDK system.\nHandles deal fundings and communications with sales team regarding fundings.\nMonth end close/reporting – prepare and distribute a GAAP balance sheet and income statement by location in a timely manner – 5-7 business days from the end of the month.\nDevelops and maintains an expertise of the company’s Dealer Management System (DMS), CDK Global, and endeavors to become the company’s go-to for all DMS processes, fixes, tips, and tricks.\nEstablishes, monitors, and enforces transactional policies and procedures both inside and outside of the DMS, ensuring that procedures are in place at operating locations to maximize accuracy of the company’s books and records.\nMonitors transactions for opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.\nMaintains financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, and managing accounting employees through coaching, counseling, and appraising job results.\nMonitors compliance by overseeing audits and working directly with financial and floor plan auditors.\nCoordinates with company, departmental, and regional leadership to assist in accomplishing operational and financial goals.\nEducational & Experience Requirements:\nMinimum 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance roles.\nA bachelor’s degree in economics, business administration, accounting or finance is preferred, but 3+ years in managerial corporate accounting experience may suffice in lieu of the educational requirement.\nStrong grasp on Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookups, is a must.\nExperience with CDK Global (Heavy Equipment) is a plus, but not a requirement.\nManagement experience is a plus, but not a requirement.\nCPA license is a plus, but not a requirement; understanding of GAAP accounting treatments is a requirement.\nEssential Physical Requirements:\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and may infrequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
