The firm values trust, flexibility, and results over micromanagement. For the right candidate, there is a genuine long-term opportunity to take over or lead the firm if desired.ResponsibilitiesHandle a broad range of family law matters including divorce, child custody, child support, equitable distribution, and related domestic casesManage cases from intake through resolution, including negotiation, mediation, hearings, and trial preparationDraft pleadings, motions, agreements, and other legal documentsRepresent clients in court appearances and contested proceedingsWork closely with paralegals and support staff to ensure efficient case managementMaintain strong client relationships through responsive and thoughtful counselContribute to the long-term growth and continued success of the practiceQualificationsActive North Carolina Bar license in good standingMinimum of 2+ years of family law experience requiredAbility to confidently step into active cases with minimal training or supervisionStrong communication, advocacy, and case management skillsTeam-oriented mindset with the ability to work independentlyComfortable working fully in-person initially (remote flexibility available after six months or as needed for appointments)Preferred BackgroundExisting ties to the Triangle marketAbility to bring an existing xmcpwfu caseload or referral relationshipsInterest in long-term succession and eventually leading or taking over the practice in approximately 3–10 yearsNorth Carolina Board Certified Specialist in Family Law preferredCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive base salary, depending on experiencePercentage of billables collected on top of base compensationBenefits begin after 90 daysVision and dental insurance with 50% of premiums paid by the firm50% employer-paid life insurance401(k) with matching up to 3% of salaryPaid holidays and PTO offeringsThis is an exceptional opportunity for a family law attorney seeking autonomy, strong earning potential, and a realistic path to future ownership within a respected Chapel Hill practice.
