We are a 3 year running Top Workplace in the Greater St. Louis area.\nJob Summary\nLeonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking a full time Embedded Software Engineering Manager for our Bridgeton, MO facility. This role will be responsible for supervising and developing a team of software engineers on activities and the completion of the activities on time and budget. The software group is responsible for the design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems. The position must also have the ability to complete a technical project independently and to mentor and/or coach other engineers.\nJob Responsibilities\nManage/Supervise and direct the work of a software engineering team responsible for driving technology through means of design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems.\nDevelop and performance manage software group\nManage budget, cost and schedule input and design assignments for the software department\nContinuously improve engineering practices for the software platform to support efficiency, reliability, and serviceability goals\nReview customer specifications and requirements, and develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable.\nApply technical expertise to lead software engineering team through solving complex embedded design problems\nDevelop a strong technical platform vision that encourages team members to build configuration driven platform tools to allow the principles of the team to scale throughout the organization\nDrive the program design to cost and design\nDocument component and subsystem specifications requirements\nParticipate in preparation of proposals\nResponsible for completion of assigned task on time and meeting technical requirements\nWork closely with staff to conceptualize systems and software technical designs\nSupport and participate in technical engineering support activities, such as design reviews\nPerform the design, development, modification, analysis, and/or documentation of various software systems\nJob Responsibilities Part II\nParticipate in resolution of technical issues within the company and outside suppliers\nAttend and participate in appropriate engineering, customer, or business meetings\nMentor and/or coach either within or outside of direct staff\nSupervise a group independently, provide assistance to staff; communicate work priorities; verify accuracy of work and engineering employee development\nCommunicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and customer as required\nSupport, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience\nDemonstrated people and technical leadership capabilities\nProven Computer Science fundamentals in embedded development, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis\nExperience in one of the following: C, C++, C# and/or Java\nExperience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers\nExperience influencing software engineering best practices within the team\nExcellent analytical and communication skills, written and verbal\nStrong mentor of peers and subordinates\nExperience with Linux/Unix is preferred\nAbility to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance is required\nU.S. Citizenship required.
