*Posting on behalf of a CPA firm celebrating 30 years in business, located on 42nd Street, NY.Senior Accountant(Tax & Advisory Focus)Location: New York, NYEmployment Type: Full-Time (In-person)Firm Type: Public Accounting / CPA FirmCompensation: Expected Salary Range: $95,000 – $120,000 annuallyPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our publicaccounting firm, with a primary focus on tax preparation, client advisory support, and outsourcedaccounting services. This role provides direct exposure to a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals, small businesses, partnerships, and closely held entities.The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple clientengagements simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and client service.This position requires strong technical accounting knowledge, the ability to work independently,and a collaborative mindset in a fast-paced public accounting environment.Key Responsibilities: Tax Preparation & CompliancePrepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, and C corporationsManage quarterly estimated tax calculations, extensions, and year-end tax projectionsResearch and resolve tax-related issues, notices, and client inquiriesPrepare and review detailed tax workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentationSupport tax planning initiatives and identify opportunities for tax savings and process improvements.Stay informed on changes in federal, state, and local tax regulationsProfessionally, efficiently and successfully communicate with clients about tax returns, questions and issuesKey Responsibilities: Client Accounting & AdvisoryOversee client bookkeeping and monthly accounting processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger reviewPrepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statementsAssist clients with financial reporting accuracy and operational accounting supportLead cleanup and catch-up bookkeeping engagements for clients transitioning accounting processesIdentify discrepancies, accounting issues, and areas for process improvementProfessionally, efficiently and successfully communicate with clients about accounting reports, questions and issuesEngagement & Firm SupportManage multiple client engagements and deadlines concurrently, particularly during busy seasonCollaborate with directors and partners on client deliverables and strategic initiativesReview work for accuracy and completeness on all work prior to submissionMaintain organized electronic workpapers and documentation in accordance with firm standardsAccurately track billable time and contribute to overall engagement efficiencyActively support process improvements and efficiencies across the work and teamPositively contribute to a collaborative team environmentQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field5–10 years of experience in public accounting, tax preparation, or outsourced accounting servicesStrong technical accounting and tax knowledgeAdvanced Excel skills and proficiency in accounting software platforms Preferred QualificationsExperience working within a CPA firm environmentExposure to NYC, NYS, and multi-state tax filingsCPA license or active pursuit of CPA licensureSkills & CompetenciesStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to prioritize and manage competing deadlinesHigh attention to detail and analytical thinking skillsProfessional communication and strong client-service orientationAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a teamHigh standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and accountabilityFirm BenefitsADD Hours/ Summer Fridays / No weekends during busy seasonHealth, dental, vision, and retirement benefitsClear advancement opportunities within the firm, including CPA exam support and CPE facilitationAnnual performance reviews (inclusive of annual compensation evaluation) and bonuses based on performance paid twice per year
